AnonymousInactive@ GonnaBeACPA, you're welcome!
@ag08c, I formed that mnemonic in reference to the table summary of independence standards found at A6 pages 26-27 of Becker/AUD-A book.
Again, FANATICS-LOVE-APE are items that DO NOT impair independence ONLY under US-DOL [Dept of Labor].
But if you were referring to all – AICPA/SOX/PCAOB/SEC & IFAC, yes more than half of this mnemonic impairs independence.
The rules pertaining CPA independence under various government bodies & AICPA are a lot to remember.
There are even items that are permitted with appropriate safeguards which makes them more complicated to sort out correctly.
I would like to add here additional mnemonic for items that UNIFORMLY impair independence
(under AICPA/SOX/PCAOB/SEC/DOL/IFAC)

N. AlexMemberI am having hard time studying for the Audit exam. The study material and MCQ are petty much unrelated. I noticed that it's more often than not about common sense.. this is scaring me….
Any advice out there…

littlenumberrobotMemberI think with Audit its choosing the VERY best answer, sometimes there may be a few that look right. This is what gets me a lot of the time. Also, I am working on slowing down and reading the whole question and formulating the answer before looking I stole this from someone on here I don't remember who! Sorry and thank you to that person lol

N. AlexMemberYou are right. it's all about reading the questions. I am just frustrated that reading the materials and memorizing the notes provides little help when it come to answering the questions
I am averaging around 65% on my first attempts on Becker MCQ… I don't know if that's normal or not when it comes to audit
I guess the key is to solve as many MCQ as possible

littlenumberrobotMemberYes N. Alex keep at the MCQ's. Honestly I don't think memorizing will help with the concepts. I just studied for this exam in Feb and I already am starting to see how much more I am understanding the concepts this time around. I went into my last exam score 60-80s on Wiley MCQ. I did great on MCQ but the sims killed my score on the actual exam boooo!

littlenumberrobotMember@LisaMarie0426 Oh Yes I completely agree! Often my passing score report is worse than my failed one, nothings makes sense with the AICPA.

10keyLeahMemberI've only been studying for AUD for two weeks, but it seems like the difficulty with AUD is that while there are rules, there's also judgment calls. Some of the MCQ's are ‘common sense' questions. I'm finding that reading the questions carefully is even more important that it was for FAR.
Can anyone comment on how familiar we need to be with calculating sampling size, projected misstatement, PPS sampling intervals, etc?
