@Jimmy520 i dont want to seem unhelpful… but I think nothing will help you as much as just reading the book and working MCQs. You are going to be tested on theory and not an practical applications of the principals

@Journey I'm methodically making my way through the Wiley Text! I'm making sure I take detailed notes on understanding MCQs (why correct answer is correct and why other choices are incorrect) rather than doing a crazy amount of MCQs. Quality over quantity this time around and it's paying off! I'm also keeping up with recopying my Ninja notes and listening to Ninja audio in my car daily. I think this is really helping the info stick! How is your prep going? Do you like Rodgers?

@Casey Good luck buddy!!!! Go Green!!!!!! 🙂

@Jimmy520 What materials are you using to study? I agree with Topsya, the best way to get familiar with these topics is to read the text, prepare detailed notes/outlines, hit the MCQS, and then recopy your notes again. I've found this is the best way to make the information stick! I work in public accounting and I have NO auditing experience, which is why I'm finding this section to be awful! Stick with the read/write/MCQ/rewrite method and you'll be in good shape!

    Good luck everyone!!!!!! 🙂

I use Becker, I am mainly doing MCs. Getting into a habit of memorizing which procedures goes with the question. So this is bad. I'm gonna read the books again and take some more notes on it.

    Final question

I've never taken BEC, and my course in AIS was a complete joke. Can someone help me break down this question:

“Which of the following is an advantage of using a value-added network for EDI transactions”

    Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the comments! Good luck to all of you guys too.

@MintsRGood My studying is slowly getting there. I am currently half way through the AUD materials. I haven't started on NINJA notes very much, but I have been listening to the audio. It does help with reviewing the previous chapters so you don't forget what you have learned. I am also trying to write notes on the MCQ that I missed or felt that I will need a reminder.

Roger's lecture are very entertaining. He does explain the materials very well and has great mnemonics. I felt that Roger did prepared me well for FAR, but I don't know what happen to BEC. I felt lost when taking the test.

    Hi all!

Would you be able to help me with the following question?

In a properly designed internal control structure, an entity's payroll department would be responsible for which of the following functions?

    A) Approval of employee time records.

    B) Preparation of periodic reports of employee earnings and withholding taxes.

    C) Temporary retention of unclaimed employee paychecks.

    D) Maintenance of records of employment, termination, pay increases, etc.

The correct answer is “B” (which totally makes sence). But what about “C”? Who would be responsible for it in the ideal internal control environment?

    Thanks,

    and here's one more:

Which of the following is not considered an accrued payroll liability?

    A) Commissions.

    B) Bonuses.

    C) Employee training.

    D) Vacation pay.

    Answer is “C”

WHY NOT “B”? How can you accrue for Bonuses? Bonuses is not exactly a predictable expense…..

@Topsya In regards to your first question, C is the wrong address because it violates the segregation of duties (ARC)

    Authority, Record keeping , Custody

By retaining the checks.. that allows them to be in record keeping and custody (payroll department is a record keeping function).

In regards to your second question, “employee training” would not be handled by payroll because its not a payroll function… payroll handles PAY .. commission, bonuses, and vacation pay…… employee training has nothing to do with payroll.

    Thanks!!!!

My first question – DUH! – segregation of duties!!!! Of course!!!!

and the second… I guess I though they ment acrual for the training expense…. But what you said totally makes sence. Thanks again!!!
