    How did you guys prepare for the AUD simulations? I’ve read that the best way is to just know the material… any of you have advice on how to be prepared for the SIMS? I am a bit scared of them! Thanks!

    I was going to ask the same question. I was looking over the Becker sims today and oh my freaking gosh. Those are brutal. I think it's pretty screwy that they throw journal entries at you. Another question I have is, what's the best way to use the authoritative research that's available?

    Recently took the Audit portion and I would have to say just do as many MCQ as possible and know how to do research because without research you won't know how to do the problems unless you have very good memory. I was spending most of the time with a split screen and good thing I had plenty of time left.

    @Jack thanks1

    @JJM what I do to research is simply search for what they're asking for! I also use the function “Search within” For example say they're asking questions on Modified Unqualified reports..I would click on the main section for reports then Search Within for the specific question. Hope this helps!

    What they said. AUD MC doesn't really have computations, so you have lots of time on the Simulations. I got to Simulations with 3 hours of time, and was able to find pretty much all answers in the research tab for topics I didn't know in 1.5 hours.

    Obviously you need to know the material but I have gotten some really off the wall sims. I finally had stronger sims this last time because used the research tab (had a lot of time left over to) and used”search within”. I have said this many times before, but one of my sims was word for word in the research (it had like 10 boxes to fill in).

    @mandy8041; Was that the report SIM you are talking about? That one I remember the report very well so I did not need the research tab. I did try the research tab for 2 others and had no luck. Part of that was because I did not even understand the situations in the question.

    CPAexxammom- I dont want to give away anything but no it had NOTHING to do with ANYTHING covered in BECKER. It was a random topic that was in the literature. I knew the reports inside and out!! 🙂

    Congrats for passing AUD? I have a 74 too in my last AUD exam. It is amazing how you improve your score from 74 to 88! What did you do differently in terms of studying or mayde materials used to up your score by 16 points! Thanks in advance.

    tryinghardcpa- I post this all the time so this is just copied and pasted from a different thread

    When I finally decided to write notes for the first time for AUD (took 10/10/11) so no idea if it worked for BEC yet, I would read the Becker book and write down EVERYTHING that I did not know 100% already. It was very time consuming. When I got to more of a chart that was too big to copy I would make a copy of the page the chart was on and tape in into my notes (for BEC if it was a calculation I would actually write it out in my own words). After I did the whole book, I re-read my notes a few times before doing any MC's. I did all MC's and was scoring in the 80-90 range (versus the 60-70 range I used to get when not writing the notes). Then I just re-read my notes one last time before entering the exam. This worked for me because I condensed each section from 100 pages down to 25 or so by just removing the fluff and duplicated concepts as well as the material I knew already.
