    Hi Everyone,

Hopefully I am taking my last exam, which is AUD at the end of this month. I have already failed AUD once because of the SIM’s. The score notification stated that I did well enough on the multiple choice to pass but not good enough on the SIM’s. I have been using Wiley Test bank to practice my SIM’s but it seems to me that those SIM’s are not as hard or as long as the ones on the actual exam. I have been able to pass all the other parts with just Yaeger, Ninja Audio and Notes, and Wiley test bank, but I am not sure if that is going to be enough for AUD.

If you have passed AUD can you please tell me how you prepared for the SIM’s and was the research tab of any benefit to you, not including of course the research questions? I took FAR, BEC, and AUD without knowing that you can use the research tab for all the SIM’s. I know its stupid but I thought that they could monitor what I was trying to research on the research tab and if it wasn’t something related to the research question that they would consider it cheating.- Thank you

It seems common that you will get something related to another section. I had an experience on a sim that made me glad I knew the journal entries for a particular area. Aside from that, using AL can help. I feel like I've read more on people finding the exact wording for sim answers on AUD than any other section (though I did find them useful in REG). What worked best for me was blowing through as many practice MCQs and sims as possible to know what areas I didn't understand as well. If you feel like you're memorizing all the materials that you've been using to study, grabbing the AUD section of the Ninja MCQ that Jeff just released might be a good way to start studying again since it will be fresh, and you won't have to worry as much about having memorized everything from seeing it over and over again.

    BEC 7/12/13 - 84
    AUD 8/31/13 - 86
    REG 4/11/14 - 84
    FAR 5/30/14 - 88

I kind of tried that blowing through as many multiple choice questions as I could preparing for the time I failed AUD, and hoping that the SIM's would be a longer version of the multiple choice questions. That wasn't quit like that as I failed with a 67. This time I am studying more the SIM's from Wiley test bank but as far as I can recall the SIM's on the actual exam were more difficult and longer.

I will have to look into getting some of the questions from Jeff and see if there are more in line with the actual exam.

I started using the research tab on all of my SIM's at the last exam which was REG and I was able to find some bits and pieces but not very much, but I had my highest score on REG out of all of my exams.

@ Sandro. I have been in your position. The first time I scored stronger on MCQ and weaker on SIMS. I prepared with Becker the first time but did not spend enough time on the SIMS. The second time around, I wrote out all the SIMS and supplemented with Wiley SIMS. I did all of them, wrote them out, and looked at them numerous times to try to understand it better. I ended up scoring stronger the second time around on SIMS. I didn't feel confident when I left, because they were definitely still difficult, but it ended up paying off. Also, I think another reason why I did much better is I timed myself very strictly on the MCQ and did not flag questions the second time. That gave me over an hour and a half for the SIMS. Keep working at it, it will pay off!

    AUD - 73,91
    FAR - 79 - Thank you God!
    BEC - 73,79!!!!
    REG - 92 whatttt??!

I used Becker review + flashcards, Ninja Audio, Ninja MCQ supplement on BEC and REG.

    Done! Praise God!

I also became more familiar with the AL and knew where to find certain subjects. I tried to use the AL on all of my SIMS and think it helped some.

Sandro – this video shows the sims…they're pretty close to the real thing…even have searchable AL.

AUD was my first exam and I got a 72. Took REG and BEC before I retook AUD.

When you review for AUD for the 2nd time, it should be much easier. Whatever you did not fully understand when you took the 1st exam should be as clear as sky for the 2nd exam.

As for exam advice, plow through the MCQs as fast as you can, and spend the rest of your time focusing on SIMs.

I was able to finish the MCQs in an hour and half so I sat on SIMs for two and half hours. What did I do with two and half hours? Research and research. Start with a SIM and if you are not familiar with it, spend 10 minutes using the AL and move on to next and come back for more research if you did not get it the 1st time.

Needless to say, it was hard to sit two and half hours on SIMs but I stayed to the end, and I found couple answers at the very end of the exam with bulk of my time feeling frustrated with not being able to answer the SIMs.

Out of the 7 SIMs, I was able to find the answer for 4 of them EXACTLY word for word from the AL. I knew 1 of the 4 is a pretest and I had a feeling that the 2nd pretest is one of the 3 that I could not find the answer word for word. So I already know that I have 3 of 5 SIMs 100% correct, as for the last 2 SIMs I just did the best I could.

When I received my exam result, I got a 97. For SIMs, if you have 2 research questions you know 1 of them is a pretest. For the 2nd pretest, most likely it will be the one with 30 fill-in-the-blanks that you have no clue how they can throw that at you.

Thank you all that have replied and your input is definitively of big help.

jphelps25 I did the exact same thing the time I failed AUD and that is that I finished the multiple choice in an hour and half and then had two and half hours for SIMs. I was pretty confident that I got both of the research questions correct but then the others I just struggled through them. Again, I didn't use the research tab for any other questions except the research, which I know now was stupid. Hopefully with SIM's from Jeff and utilizing the research tab more then I did the last time I will be able to pass AUD. – Thank you again to all of you

Sandro sorry for your previous fail. I took Aud this past month and passed. I was very scared of the sims since I read on the forums here that the Aud sims are very much FAR related. And I had not taken a financial accounting class in 2 years. So naturally I was worried sick about the sims. So I spent half a day going over some basic FAR stuff that I could think of and J/Es and some equity method stuff.

Audit is very difficult to study as it is. Unlike other parts where there are calculations and you can actually get to the correct answer by solving, for audit all 4 choices seem very close to each other. You must know the material well in order to get to the “best” option. I believe for me, it was redoing the MCQs about 3+ times and sims twice and also reading the book 2 times.

Now if only I could do the same for FAR…sigh..lets see!!

Good luck on your retake!! You will do great since you already have covered this material once!!
