Hey y’all,

So I shotgunned AUD on 5/29 (only studied for 3.5 weeks) after I graduated. ALMOST pulled a quick one on the AICPA (got a 73……..) So, Im going to take it again in 7/3.. What is your advice (assuming you barely failed) to insure that I don’t screw this up again and waste more money. I’ve been studying AUD (like an hour or two a day) while also studying for REG ( 6 or 7 hours a day) and I feel like I’m really close. I passed the Becker practice exams with a 76 and a 74.5 (I rounded up lol).. I didn’t really take my time.. took me about 90 mins per exam.

Even tho you were very close with a 73, my advice is study like you don't know a single thing. Each exam is different so you don't want to study with an overly confident attitude and then have to re-take the exam again. I would freshen up on the material you are comfortable with and really focus your time on the material you are struggling with. I found the ninja MCQ's very helpful for audit because they help you find where your weak areas are.

Study from scratch. I've taken Audit twice (tried the second time during busy season, couldn't do it) and on my score report I had some areas go from stronger to comparable, weaker to comparable, comparable to weaker, etc., etc. So in reality, you don't know what is going to happen. I'm doing my third attempt from the beginning and ignoring the score report to try and work on my weaker areas. I'm focusing heavy on ALL areas.

I'm with DDJunkie on this. I failed Audit twice and did worse than I did before the second time even though I felt better about it the second time. You need to analyze what it was you did wrong. Sometimes it has nothing to do with how much you studied (or didn't study) The ONLY thing you can do to mitigate problems that might come up or questions you have no idea how to answer is by studying all the areas. Even the ones you were already very comfortable with. It would be a shame to get into the exam and miss easy low hanging fruit because you didn't look over the stuff you thought you knew like the back of your hand.

I echo DDjunkie and would also say that you do not need 2 points, but you need 75 points.

The test changes each quarter and you forget some of the stuff you learned last time you studied. A major mistake I have seen on this forum in the last 4 years is that candidates think they only need to study the material that they don't know as well. But in fact, you need to study it all again. You never know what the game makers errr, i mean test makers will throw at you

Thanks for all the input guys, I've been studying my “trouble areas” for the last few weeks. But I'm now going back through each chapter (taking like a day or so) and trying to iron out the troubled areas.
