    hello everyone,

I took 3 parts(BEC/REG/AUD) in the April/May testing window and used Rogers for my studies. found him extremely helpful and was able to score 85,81, and 65 respectively on the first go.

I was a bit disappointed to fail AUD, but I figured I would pass it the second time around. after getting my scores around june 20ish , I went on a 6 week vacation as I figured it would be my last vacation before I get into the accounting profession.

anyways, I started studying for AUD again about 3 days ago and I cant get into the zone for some reason. lacking motivation for some reason and been really lazy lately, not sure why.

I feel extremely bored studying the same thing again( took AUD on april 30th) I feel like I still remember the material well enough and most of the time I close the lectures or stop studying aftr 1-2 hrs opposed to studying 6-8 hrs on my first go.

my question is, should I just ditch the lectures and just read the books/perhaps buy a new book and just focus on questions and simulations.

my performance report for AUD was

    Understanding the engagement (Stronger)

    Understanding the entity (weaker)

    procedures and evidence (weaker)

    evaluation and reporting (weaker)

    accounting and review services (Stronger)

    professional responisbilities (Stronger)

also scored weaker on both MC’s and simulations.

I currently have the Wiley software/book and the Rogers txt book and the gleim book from my college class. not sure whether I need more material or just stick with what I have.

also wouldnt mind a kick in the behind now to wake me up so I can study like I used to.

No advice on the study materials but here's your kick in the pants…….do you want to be celebrating being DONE in September or gearing up to take it for a 3rd time? Come on, I'll be waiting for my AUD score too, and would love to be celebrating with you!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

You say that you feel that you still remember the material well enough since you just took it in April. If you'd known it well enough then, though, you would haven't failed by 10 points or had a weaker performance on both MCQ and SIMS. I'm not saying this to be mean, but you obviously need a strong shove in the right direction. You need to do a lot more than a half-hearted review if you're going to pass this time.

IMO what was tough about AUD was that you had to know the material in almost ridiculous detail. A single word in a question or answer would make all the difference as to what was the correct answer. I don't know that you need to change your study materials, but you definitely need to change your study methods or you'll be taking AUD a third time. If you don't feel like you're getting anything out of the lectures, read your text or do problems. You've got plenty to choose from with the materials your using. Look at Jeff's post on how to pass an exam in 20 days. There might be some methods that will work for you.

    Good luck.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

I think you already accurately identified the problem yourself: you're lazy; at least, for the moment. I don't think you need to necessarily switch up the materials, I think you just need to ask yourself whether or not you want to be the kind of person who fails the cpa exam multiple times because they half-ass the study efforts. If you want motivation, realize that if you don't pass these suckers before you start working in the profession, you may never get it done. Trying to take the CPA exam while working at a public cpa firm is like trying to jump rope in quicksand! Here's your kick in the butt: stop thinking about how much it sucks to study Audit and get it done. If you passed BEC and REG in the same window, you're obviously not a moron, you're just getting burnt out. Turn your cell phone off and neglect your friends/family for a couple weeks, think about what a pain in the butt it's going to be if you don't pass the exam now, and destroy that friggin' exam! Best of luck to you!

I would get the Wiley Test Bank online and just hammer out as many MCQ as you possibly can. I felt I knew BEC better than I did AUD when only considering the Becker material. I didnt use Wiley for BEC though and used Wiley for AUD and did much better

    BEC - 86
    AUD - 94
    REG - 88
    FAR - 89
