    Hey, everyone —

    I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on doing the research sim for AUD.

    I have the Wiley online test bank (which looks alot like the exam format, but it is incomplete — it looks like it only has selected sections of each part of the literature)

    and, I have the AICPA free access to the auth. literature that you can get with your NTS, which seems to be very complete, but not at all like the format on the exam.

    So, I seem to be completely bombing the research — not just in the wrong paragraph, but I usually end up in completely the wrong section. I did OK on the FAR research with just the FASB codification, but I’m really struggling with this.

    Do I just need to practice more? Should I read through the auth. literature itself to be more familiar with it?

    Do most of you just start out with a search, or do you try to navigate to the section where you think it is and then search from there?

    What is the AU-C that I see in the AICPA stuff? It said it was clarified AU statements — should I even look there?

    Thanks for the help

    @Kim,

    On exam date, you just have to look for keywords…..For example, if the question is:

    How to audit a crazy client? Look for any pronouncement with the word crazy.

    What I have been doing is to try few keywords, to see if something comes up fast. If not, i just slow down and start reading the results coming for the specific keyword that I am looking for.

    Good Luck!!

    Utilize both the “Search Within” function and the “Topical Index”. Using Marivy's example above, in the Topical Index I would find which section deals with “clients.” Then I'd open that section and in the “Search Within” box, type crazy.

    Also, don't forget to use the Research function for any SIMS you need help with… not just the actual Research question!
