AUD – Research questions help

Currently using Becker– and I cannot seem to get the right answer for these research questions. Like it feels like I got the correct answer, but when I check the solutions it lists some other standard that answers my question even BETTER..

And I’m looking at the solution and it says (i.e. Use keyword: Fair presentation), and if I were to use that keyword, the correct standard shows up on the SECOND page of results.

Does anyone have any advice on how to better use the authoritative literature, or just any advice on how to better approach these?

Becker is terrible for the AUD research questions for whatever reason. I had no problem with Becker preparing for the other sections' research questions. With that being said, I took AUD today, had two research questions, and found each within 3 minutes. My guess is that the search engine on the actual exam is much better.

The time it takes to find a research question can really boil down to whether the question has some sort of “keyword” or not. I found my AUD one in under 5 minutes. For REG I had to search through the IRC manually, I ran out of time and never found it. My best advice is to use the search function, then “search within” the standard. If you can't find it, be familiar with the different sets of standards (AS, AT, SSARS, etc.). This will at least help you identify the proper standard the answer is located within. Then you can utilize the “search within” function to identify the proper paragraph.

To me, the research SIMS are free points. Just search the key words … spend some time knowing what they are looking for. It's like an open book test … the answers are there, you just have to know how to find them.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

My strategy based on an example from a practice SIM on WTB:

I had to find the AL that explained what matters should be included in a letter of audit inquiry.

    Step 1: Search “audit inquiry”

    RESULT = nada

    Step 2: Search “inquiry”

RESULT = After clicking on a couple matches and doing a brief scan, I was able to find the AU-C section that contained “communications with Entity's legal counsel” in AU-C 501.18

    Step 3: Search “matters”

RESULT = I got a list of results, but clicked on AU-C 501

Step 4: Now I'm in AU-C 501 and the word “matters” is highlighted. I scrolled down until I found paragraph 22 which lists the “matters” to include.

Now, I could've found that by just going a little further from paragraph 18 in step 2, but when there's that much verbiage, I prefer using the search feature to locate the word(s) I want to look for.

    REG - 89
    FAR - 84
    AUD - 73, 86
    BEC - 89

Also, just as an FYI, the WTB does not have all the literature for the research solutions that they are even providing! I got pretty frustrated with that. Since i also use Bisk and Gleim, I was able to test my skills there.
