Can some please give me some tips on what to study in terms of topics they felt were heavily covered.

It seems that the SIM’s seem to be focused on JE’s which is scary considering it is probably the most difficult aspect considering I do not frequently deal with JE’s on a day to day basis as an auditor.

I do understand auditing as a general topic as a whole, but in cramming I would like some help to make my life easier……

    PLEASE HELP…….

    Thank you,

    -Jim

I have taken AUD twice and both times I got a SIMS related to JEs. I still wouldn't know how to prepare for it, but I'd say best thing is to remember your debit, credit and look at few J/Es…so you have an idea if you haven't seen them for a while!

    Good Luck!

For those that haven't taken FAR yet, do you highly recommend searching for the J/E chapter in the FAR textbook?

Or look through accountingcoach and pick up their JE?

What sort of J/E are there in Audit? Because I didn't see any in the review course for Audit?

I'm taking it on Monday. I've heard independence is heavy. I'm honestly not too worried about the JEs. When I was practicing, I got caught up in trying to do the whole sim at once. I started to learn to just try to figure out the JEs first and write them out, then proceed. Good luck to you!

I haven't taken a test yet but I've heard that the reference material can provide insight on the JEs in SIMS.

Make sure you're 100% solid on the AICPA Code of Conduct, all reports (including compilations & reviews) and their modifications (explanatory paragraphs, qualified, adverse, etc) and audit sampling. These were things that I reviewed most heavily before today's exam and I'm certain this is the reason why I didn't feel the testlets getting much harder as I progressed.

As for J/E's, you should definitely take at least a cursory look and know that debits increase assets and expenses and credits increase liabilities and equity accounts. That should be enough to back your way into a J/E logically. In my case, I didn't have any SIMs dealing with J/Es so it's really luck of the draw. Don't fret the FAR content too much and focus more on what I mentioned above.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

@Kasia hi! What was your strategy to memorize the reports contents, modifications, etc? Your scores are impressive!

@jenuno01, Thanks, I used a chart that was included with my study course. On it, it listed each type of audit, the circumstances, the type of report issued, and the modifications (if any). I read that chart regularly until it was pretty much committed to memory and I also did disgusting amounts of MCQs and a few SIMs that were included in the course materials on this subject area.

@jenuno, I'm using NIU Correspondence CPA Review for all 4 sections. (cpareview.niu.edu) I swear by this course.

@Kasia I've never heard of it…but might have to check it out after seeing your scores! Do you supplement it with anything else? Or is it good enough on its own?

The course definitely stands on its own. The only supplement I got was the Gleim test bank because I got it for 50% off through this course. I highly recommend this course. It is highly effective and all of my friends who used it also passed all 4 sections on first attempt with 80+ scores. If you're motivated and are comfortable with an audio course, this is an excellent option.

The one (and only sim in all 4 parts) that gave me trouble was a JE problem in AUD.
