After posting here like crazy up until I took FAR, I decided to forsake everything CPA until I started studying for AUD. I took a couple of weeks off because I knew there was a blackout month in my way anyway.

I started AUD (using Becker) yesterday and I can already see how different it is from FAR–in a good way. It will be a nice little reprieve to not have such a calculation-heavy studying experience.

Anyway, I learned what worked for me by going through FAR, and that is note-taking as opposed to note CARDS. Currently I’m reading through A1 and taking condensed but somehow still detailed notes.

From your experience, is it that important to know what every abbreviation stands for? Obviously I already know what GAAS is, I know what SEC means, etc. But is it a big deal to know that IESBA stands for International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, for example, or am I just wasting time in the land of the irrelevant there?

    FAR 07/27/11 - 87
    AUD 10/01/11 - 85
    BEC 11/15/11 - 87
    REG 01/03/12 - 92

I highly doubt you'll get a question which asks “What does IESBA stand for.”

Know the unqualified audit report by heart, as well as the review/compilation. Becker was perfect prep for Audit. You'll be pleasantly surprised on the exam day MCQs. The sims are a different story.
