AUD hard time…

    Hey guys,

So i started auditing last week. I use yaeger review course and i do not like Gary’s style of teaching, so once i finish the lecture, i would go back and read the chapter by myself then hit the MCQ on the testbank of wiley.

However, i am not doing so well on it, for MOD 1 i took 74, Mod 2 76, MOD 3 70!

I am not finiding a difficulty in answering the theory questions, what i find difficult is questions that are tricky, have more than one correct answer, and especially in Internal control the questions that require common sense that you cant study for example the payroll system and who does what.

Any ideas how one should prepare better especially for these types of common sense questions?

Just keep answering questions and write down a fact nugget for each question you get wrong or guess on. The best way to learn how to answer these types of questions is to just keep doing them.

    Thanks,

I am currently doing what you told me, but I sometimes think, the questions wont be repeated, so would be really that useful?

and in general, how would one tackle the AUD using the wiley book and testbank other than doing all MCQs?

Read the book and take your own notes on the reading. Do the MCQs when told to do them. And just keep using the test bank to do more and more questions. They will repeat. But make sure you are understanding the answers when you get them wrong or guess and keep doing the fact nuggets. Then review your notes and fact nuggets regularly.

Serik, AUD is all about tricky questions. Usually, at least 3 if not 4 options could be right, and the trick is to try to figure out which one is the best answer. You're right that you won't have the exact same questions again, so don't just try to remember what the right answer was – try to remember *why* it was the right one, because you will definitely see questions over the same topics again! I am a fan of using the MCQs for learning because they are tricky, and it's good to learn how to see through the tricks. The most important thing is to slow down, read the question, and read it again. In the last couple days before my exam, if I went quick, I got 40's-60's, but if I went slow, I could get 80's and 90's. I got a 91 on my exam. So my point is, if you don't take things S-L-O-W enough, this exam can kill you even if you know the stuff.

As for how to prepare with Wiley, that's how I prepared. I read the book cover-to-cover (almost – I didn't read the AL, but I wanted to) and did everything in the Test Bank, focusing the whole time on understanding, not memory. Oh, and I didn't use lectures at all. 🙂

Currently studying AUD as well, and I have hand cramps from taking notes in Module 1 alone. I'm also using Wiley books, focus notes, and test bank only.

Lilla – I agree with your way to study. I used Becker at one point in time, and found that I learned nothing from the lectures. Now it is Read, Notes, and MCQ's.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!
