Hi all and have a good evening!

I wonder if, in order to pass AUDIT exam, we need to memorize all that fancy mnemonics like
– five carrot cars (for all the possible audit procedures),
– paid tips (for all possible control procedures)
– or mnemonics for auditors report content
etc

Is it enough to understand them (e.g. when what is applied, what’s the difference between them) or it is really important to remember ALL of them? Frankly memorization is freaking me out if I do not understand the reason to remember smth…

YES!
Read that section, write down notes, memorize, then answer the corresponding MCQs. By doing this drill, you'll be able to understand as to why and why you do have to memorize them all and then you'll somehow connect them all together later. Good luck!

It really depends on how you learn and how you think. I didn't memorize any such things, and I got a 92 (IIRC) on first-try of AUD exam. However, on the flip side, there's people that skipped those and failed a couple times, then memorized them and passed. For me, the mnemonics would have been useless; for them, mnemonics were the way they passed. What's the difference? Different people, different approaches to learning, different minds, etc. For me, what was key to passing AUD was understanding the mind of an auditor and how to approach a situation like an auditor. However, many people will tell you AUD is a memorization-based exam. As much as I'd beg to differ, I have to admit that memorization got them a pass, so for them, it was a memorization based exam.

So, figure out how you work. If you're going to spend forever memorizing and not gain anything from it, chances are good you're not a memorizer.

Hi friends!
Having own experience, i would agree with Lilla (above). I did not memorize this stuff (simply could not) – and passed at 1st attempt. But I am an auditor and understand why I need to know most of the material. For those not involved in auditing, memorizing might help. Plus the exam contents are different – perhaps I was simply lucky not to get some weird questions like that.
