    Hello All,

I am going to appear for AUD at the end of july.

Last time i missed it by two points which was very painful because I had left the testing centre not feeling soo bad which I have read on the forum is actually bad 🙁 I did 3 sims corrrect word to word because I had used my Autho Literature tab. MCQ were tricky but somehow I thought I should be OK . when i was preparing for first attempt for AUD i used to score 80-90 in progress tests and scored in 80’s on the Becker Final exam which I never did.Anyways that was past and should probably focus to clear this time

Now I am revising my AUD which I am preparing with Becker Self Study and Wiley Online test bank.

Somehow I memorize the answer because probably I have done it 3-4 times now on Becker. Also when i do progress test I score again in 90’s.I will may be just do Wiley because I purchased it after I failed first time.

Also should I focus on reading or do MCQ’s and also some tips for Sims

Please Guys let me know your insights and some tips.

Also I know the material but dont know why I get so confused 🙁 Its really demotivating and I want some inspiration.

Your insights will be Appreciated Thanks

Hi, I attempted audit in feb and ended up with a 72. Then I attempted it in may and thank God passed it with an 83. What I did different: 1. make notes of all chapters. 2. Mix beckers review with wiley test bank. 3. Some mcq's in beckers are really helpful and in explanation it tells in details certain points which are not present in review so I strengthened my notes by adding points/ topics to them. 4. Some of the topics covered in simms are actually related to FAR like adjusting entries so its better to practice them a little bit and also some definition related to FAR like FOB shipping point, FOB destination etc. u need to know what is their accounting treatment. 5. It is very important to remember each and every thing from audit independence because its covered in a gr8 detail, not only in mcq's but also sumtimes simms as well. 6. Have a very clear concept of difference between inheret, control and audit risk and also some examples of them. 7. have a good grip on how to research simms. 8. lastly work hard and pray even harder….Good Luck!

    Thanks that was really helpful.

I agree with your point about Inherent,Control & Audit Risk .The language is really twisty and confuses lot..I am giving my best but then get scared bcoz of this trickyness of exam .Also Independence is damn important. Will go through it once again right now.

    Will give my best.

    Hope for best

You said you're sure you got 3 sims correct because you used the authoritative literature. If you try to move through the multiple choice a little quicker, maybe you'd leave yourself enough time to get ALL sims absolutely correct. A lot of people aren't comfortable using the literature, but you seem like you're good at it. If you're strong using the authoritative literature, use that to your advantage. It might mean guessing on a couple of multiple choice questions that you're not sure about, but if you get to the sims with enough time, that could really boost your score a few points.

Hey wizards8507 ..Actually I did leave myself lot of time for Sim ..like about 1.5 hrs i guess..Yes I was somehow lucky to get answers on 2 sims definitely by using the Autho literature and the 3rd one almost i guess…

Then when i recieved my score i started to think because i used the Autho Literature tab they failed me 😉 like copying because one sim I almost nailed down you know…I know thats not true but all those weird thoughts past my mind .Because lot of people do use the AL tab

Also when I got my score notification I was weaker in 2 areas in MCQ— Professional Responsibilites & Internal control..and Weaker in Sims.

I am trying my best ..Praying this time will do well to get the Perfect score.

A little bit of advice for you:

By the time you've memorized the Becker answers (it has happened to me before), it isn't worth repeating them anymore. I like to make a notebook full of the most difficult topics for me and write them out in my own words to make sure I understand the underlying concepts. This proves to me that I truly understand the topics, or shows me where to do more studying if I'm still weak. The notebook also makes a great exam day refresher or study guide for the days leading up to the exam, as it's a condensed version of the topics in the book. This technique may not work for everyone, but it definitely works for me.

i doubt the SIMs really killed you. My SIMs were extremely straightforward, but some of my classmates came out feeling like a few of them were pretty tricky. It's more likely that the MCQs got you. I've taken 3 of the exams so far and AUD definitely had the most tricky wording. When taking the exam, read the question at least twice and isolate exactly what they're asking for. When I reviewed my testlets I changed a few answers in each testlet just because I misread the question the first time. Seriously, they may start the question out exactly like a Becker question and change the very last word of the question. WORDING iS KEY! If you truly understand the material and don't get tripped up on the wording, you should definitely pass.

    Good luck!

I (barely) passed on my first attempt at AUD, but if it weren't for a couple of things I did, I would have most likely failed. I would like to emphasize the uselessness of Becker MCQ once you have memorized them all. I was freaking out maybe 3 days before my exam because I was working through Becker progress tests and I was getting 92-100% every time. While it was definitely a confidence booster, I knew deep down inside that I was NOT that prepared for the exam because there were still a few major topics that baffled me (governmental stuff, transaction cycles, etc.). After I came to this realization, I bought the Wiley Test Bank from the A71 store and was quickly humbled by how much I actually knew. I answered every single question (which may not have been the idea) in 3 days, including most of the ones I got wrong 2x. My advice would be to go through the entire test bank if time permits and, if not, go through your weak areas. I don't recommend any practice exams, but rather “practice mode” so that you can why your answers were (in)correct as you go along. I hope this helps, and I am certain you will pass your second attempt if you get a fresh perspective of the material with a new set of MCQ. The best advice I have received, not just for AUD, is to understand why your answer was correct or incorrect. Best of luck, and I really hope that this helps!

Hey @ReallyRakewell & DannyB_Live thank you guys soo much for sharing your experience and giving those useful tips.

I agree Audit is the most trickiest becuase you think you answered right but one word in MCQ missed answer is boom worng. As I am doing more and more MCQ's I am understanding where I lag.

I have to practice Professional Responsibilities becuase that was the area where I was weak the last time in exam and even when I am practising I tend to answer incorrectly .So probably will solve MCQ's on that part and also keep doing other Mcq as well.

In the Sim part i make deadly mistakes in Evidence area..Like where they have situations and you have to answer which financial assertion and the audit procedure for the same..By looking at it I feel ok i know this but the options for audit procedures are really damn tricky. So working on that as well.

    Will keep Practicing.

Thanks once again for those inputs.this forum really helps as its not like college studies where I can share my doubts and queries with my friends 🙁 But thanks to forums like these it motivates and helps you with all CPA doubts.

    Good Luck
