I just completed studying for AUD using Becker’s. I looked at the AICPA released questions from Q1 and noticed that almost all of the questions (95%) were exactly the same as Becker’s MCQs. They felt completely easy to do.

Am I ready for the exam? Are the questions pretty much exactly like the Becker’s MCQs?

I would never call myself “ready” for the exam until I am being fingerprinted and patted down at prometric. When are you sitting? Maybe try some older AICPA released questions (Becker probabaly has licensed the AICPA questions you're seeing, which is why they are the same) or CPAREVIEWFORFREE.

keep on keepin on until exam day 🙂

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I agree with the CPAReviewForFree website. There's always questions on there that I've never seen before.

    BEC: Passed
    AUD: Passed
    REG: Passed
    FAR: Passed

I felt very prepared in the exam from the Becker MCQ's. If you're familiar with the MCQ's with Becker (and the reason questions are right/wrong) and also have a good handle on the format of the main audit reports, then I think you'll be fine. I used Becker and got a 93 on AUD.

Since I created this post, I feel that I should follow through with the results of my exam.

The exam was just as I had expected… easy. I felt that Becker prepared me tremendously for this exam. Besides a few questions on the new “international stuff,” every MCQ I saw on that exam was very familiar. But even though I felt as if I was nailing every single question, I was unable to determine if my testlets were getting tougher.

I went into the simulations with about 2 hours 30 minutes left. I really took my time and still had more than half an hour on the clock by the end of it all. For one of my simulations though, I did come across those JEs that I've seen people mention on these forums. Fortunately, I took FAR in the last window. Although these JEs were relatively simple to do, I probably would have not been able to do them without studying FAR first.

I predict my score will be 85+

@Amal, did you feel the same confidence taking your BEC exam as you did with AUD? Would you say Becker also prepared you well?

I wish it was easy for me!! I am taking my third swipe at Audit on 11/23. I used Becker and Wiley last window and probably will use Yaeger (Gary Bulmash) this time around. I actually am not fond of Gary Bulmash's rote, drone voice (think of Ferris Bueller's Econ teacher: Bueller, Bueller, Ferris?) UGH. But it seems like alot of people commented on how Gary takes you through everything detail by detail. I want to pass and will do whatever to get past this. it is really frustrating since it looks like Audit has the highest passing rates of all the 4 exams.

Sounds like you did well—best of luck!

Gary's not a bad dude. I read the not-so-great reviews about him but I think hes pretty cool. I only went through 1 video though (AUD).

For some reason I don't like Cindy though.. something about her makes me want to punch her face. She has one of those faces where if I ever see her on the streets she would automatically get dropped kick in the stomach by me.

    Hey Roach,

So, if you only used the Audit video–which one did you use, the cram or the course? Also, how did you do on the exam? Alright, don't freak out on me, but I liked Cindy for FAR. I thought she did a great job explaining the details, and her notes were killer for FAR. Seems like everyone has a different opinion…I just watched a demo on Roger CPA, he seems really energetic…kinda something I lack right now!

What are you studying for now? What do you have left to pass?

ok, last question, do you really get up that early to study?????

I'm using home study for Audit.. haven't taken the exam yet; however, I'm fairly confident in auditing in general.. its easy to me.

I don't know if you've taken BEC but I kid you not when I tell you that Cindy reads the Wiley book throughout the whole lecture esp. the IT section which is generally a heavy portion on the exam. Haven't watch Far videos to determine if Cindy is acting a fool in that one.

Don't know much about roger… I watch his demo and he looks like he's about one redbull away from flying to the moon. I generally like people like him.

and yeah I got up at 2:30 today… I did some online shopping, ate some eggs, and studied.. feels good man. slept at 9 last night.

    Roach,

I put Bec behind me this year. But I never used Yaeger on that one. I just used Becker, Wiley testbank, and cpareviewforfree. In my final review I was feeling nervous because I was scoring well in Becker but not as well in Wiley or cpareviewforfree, so I used Gleim's free trial for BEC. I have to warn you that their mcq's are hard, but I think it is good prep. Plus at the time, they had more info on corporate governance than Becker. The free trial is basically a testbank. There might have been lectures, I didn't notice or remember, but I thought it helped me when I got to the exam and got a tough second testlet. If you haven't tried it, you should, since it is free! My favorite flavor. These exams are emptying my pockets.

    have a good one!

@ BeckerUser – I didn't feel as prepared with REG or BEC as I did for AUD. It seems like the MCQ's that Becker has for AUD are very representative of what's on the exam while this was not the case for REG or BEC. This may simply be due to the volume of material. The tax code is endless so there are numerous places where you can be tripped up and BEC covers such a multitude of topics. It's possible that fewer questions have been released to the public for those exams.

Coming out of REG, I felt like the exam kicked my butt while coming out of AUD I thought I kicked the exam's butt 🙂 But my scores weren't THAT different. So all in all, Becker prepared me well. As a side note, I don't do taxes or auditing for a living.

Obviously I don't know what I got on BEC yet, but I did feel like the Becker material prepared me for what was on the test, but there was much less word for word MCQ's vs AUD. Regarding the BEC exam – don't blow off that last chapter…

@BeckerUser I am starting to study for AUD using Becker and based on what you are saying, Becker prepared you very well… my test is scheduled for the end of November, so I have about 5 weeks..would you this is enough? And how should I tackle studying on Becker? Did you watch all the lectures? Thanks for help!!

@Beckeruser: Great job!! I had that experience when I took it in July, but those J/Es weren't too nice to me:( I hope I have similar experience as you. Was A4 (tran cycle) heavily tested?

@Jenuno, 5 weeks is a good amount of time to study for AUD. I did it in 5 weeks as well. I clocked in about 4 hours everyday (including weekends) using Becker. My personal method of studying is: 1) read the chapter, 2) watch the lecture and take notes, 3) do the homework, 4) repeat. Becker may tell you to watch the lectures first and then read, but I feel that I get the most out of the material by reading first (the choice is up to you). When I watch the lectures first, I get obsessive-compulsive and feel very uncomfortable when they skip over any material.

I'm very slow when it comes to studying… I take 1-2 days reading each chapter. Another day to watch a lecture and take notes. And finally 1-2 days to do the homework questions. So overall, it takes about 4-5 days to complete one chapter for me. By the end of it all, you should have a good enough amount of time to review. Personally, I only left 3 days for myself to review. In those 3 days, I managed to skim through each chapter, completed and reviewed one simulated exam (FYI, scored a 94/100), and completed and reviewed the Becker Final Exam 1 (FYI, scored an average of 87 on the MCQs)

The key is to get yourself into a very comfortable routine. Pick your study hours and make it a part of your schedule everyday. The earlier you adapt yourself to a routine, the easier it will be to simply rollforward that study schedule to your next exam section.

@hopeful, Transaction cycles stressed me out too at first and was the toughest part of AUD for me. But overall, I felt that doing the Becker homework questions really helped me to understand the basics… and basic questions were all I got on the exam in this area. I'd say to know your assertions and how to test for them at the least. You will likely see a few questions on your exam that could make the difference between a 74 and 75. Don't blow it off, but also don't stress too much.
