Recommended prep time for AUD is 4 weeks @ 20 hours a week.

The Becker lectures give you a breakdown of each chapter as you go through. Roughly if using Beckers the most point emphasis they describe is as below:
Ch 1: Going concern and knowing Unqualified, Qual, Disclsimer and Adverse and wording in Opinion/Scope ect
Ch 3: Planning 22-28pt Internal Control: 12-18 pts
Ch 4 Substantive testing and Evidence Gathering (be familar with ratios as well) 32-38 points
Trust me that does not mean blow off Ch 5 or 2
From personal experience taking the exam, 8/31 and got a 74 (worse possible score to achieve since 1 point short). There were also a bunch of questions on Compilations (Beckers Ch 2). Now questions change but having spoken to various people Beckers seems on the money. Best advice READ THE QUESTIONS SLOWLY TWICE before answering to eliminate miss understanding a trick question
October 14, 2010 at 3:38 pm #258104AnonymousInactiveTook my AUD exam yesterday. And let me start off by saying I am generally a very fast test taker, but even I was surprised at how fast I finished. I was done in 2 hours and I feel very confident. I spent an hour on MC and the other hour was split between simulations. The first testlet was fairly easy, 2nd was alot harder, 3rd was a mix of easy and difficult questions. For the first time ever I was able to answer every simulation question without having a panic attack about not remembering the material. I would say that the whole exam was very general and had questions about all the topics. I did not feel that it heavily tested me one on thing. As for the multiple choice I only had to go back to a question once. The rest of the time I knew the answers right away. I believe I got incredibly lucky with the questions they asked me as I have had no auditing experience and I skipped almost every auditing class in college.
I studied with Becker and watched all the videos, did the homework, read all the chapters again and then did most of the homework again. I also reviewed with notecards some. I definately did not do Jeff's recommended study time. Probably anywhere between 50-75% of it.
For those of you that use Becker, I recognized very VERY similar questions on the test that were used in the homework. Good luck to all those still to test!

apruneda, you sound incredibly intelligent, awfully blessed and somewhat lucky! ;0] I hope to have a very similar experience with a passing score ta boot! Cheers!

I also feel very prepared for this exam finally. I've used Yaeger homestudy for everything, and when I fortunately won the CRAM thru Club 75, it has made me feel like everything is just getting filed away in my virtual file cabinet and I'll be able to open any drawer I need on Monday! Thanks for the post, anything that helps alleviate the pressure is greatly appreciated. Again, GOOD LUCK @ result time!

October 18, 2010 at 2:46 pm #258108LauraN874ParticipantThis is hopefully my last section of the CPA exam. I started studying last week Chapter 1 last week using Becker. While I found the lectures to be relatively simple, I did not do so well with the Multiple choice because the choices were so similar or the questions were hard to understand…..anyone have the same problem? I am hoping it gets better on the next chapters…. I really don't want this to be the only exam I fail!!!!!

AUD - 11/06October 19, 2010 at 5:41 pm #258109AnonymousInactiveI took AUD today and I have an okay feeling leaving – which unfortunately never means anything! I read on this forum that if you are doing well the testlets are suppose to get harder? Is this true? All my testlets seemed about the same level..
October 19, 2010 at 10:13 pm #258110YoYoParticipantI hate audit and I can't wait to get this test over it!! I passed all 3 on my first try, but failed this Audit test 2 times (70, 72). I hope November 1st will be the last time I will step into a testing center!!! If I don't pass, then my 18 month is UP and I'll lose REG – pressure…pressure…

What are you emphasizing now that you feel you didn't emphasize as much before? Is there anything in particular that you repeatedly saw on the exam that you recommend to study? Sorry for all of the questions, I don't feel very confident with this portion.

AUD - 11/06October 20, 2010 at 10:03 pm #258112YoYoParticipantLauraN874: Im using Becker. Well, I didn't score so well on internal control and information, so that's what I'm stressing my study on this time around. I did above average on the other parts. I studied Chap 1 to 3, and did not spend enough time on 4 and 5.
So my current study plan now is attack chap 4 & 5, then review 3, then 1 & 2 (i'm reviewing 3 first because that chapter has internal control/planning & supervision). What's ur study plan?

October 21, 2010 at 7:04 pm #258114LauraN874ParticipantSounds like you are good to go Christian.
Yoyo: since this is my first time taking the exam I am just trying to memorize everything! I am currently finishing Chapter 3 on Becker, my plan is to have at least one week to review and take the practice exams. Unlike the other parts of the CPA, I feel that most of the audit questions are tricky and could really have more than one answer….which has led me to score in between the 60's and 70's in the hw problems. I have a friend who passed the exam and said a lot of the same questions from Becker popped up, so I will go over them repeatedly until I can recite them in my sleep!!! Good luck to us all. Let us know how it goes!
