are you nervous when taking the tests? Do you set a good routine for studying? It seems that there may be an undermining factor besides your ability to learn the material.
May 27, 2010 at 6:44 pm #229107SoCloseICanTasteItParticipantI hate AUD, your score grouping is so close, you obviously know most of the material, are your problem areas the same every time? When I failed AUD the first time, I had 3 problem areas. After I failed the second time, I raised 2 problem areas, but not enough and way killed (in a good way) the 3rd problem area. So for my 3rd attempt, i focused more on the 2 problem areas. I still left the exam worried, but I passed.
I think your attack strategy would also differ if your problem areas are MCQ or SIMS. Let me know, i wouldn't mind giving advice if you thought it would help.Gleim FAR 77, BEC 74, REG 73, AUD 68

I found out that Becker didn't work for me, and I have since been using Bisk books / software, and Wiley questions as extra practice. We will see if what I change will help me. I was refered to a site from one of the other candidates (thanks Katielouwho) named Vark, and it tests how you learn and listening was my least strongest. So…I took some tips from them on what works best for me & we will see. I think after three years of struggling I am hoping this helps me. I don't find the content difficult, I find it difficult to retain without having my book. I understand concepts, I just don't remember the details as well as I need to. Plus I have had huge, huge cases of test anxiety. My biggest problem on the exam wasn't the content it was mostly the sims. I haven't got a comparable once (so I liked the Bisk software to improve that). So I hope this helps. I wish you the best!

No, I'm not. I used to do CPA exams. I tried Becker 2009 4 times, Gliem 2010 MCcd 2 times, and Wiley book 2010 last time

I think my weak area is Sim and Communication but last time I wrote very good communication espcialy first sim because I got it from the research tab (maybe they don't grade it for this reason)I lost time looking for answer and the time did run out and only I wrote one pargraph in sim2. for sim1 I did all the tabs.

I really think Becker is great, I just took AUD on 5/24/09, used Becker, and felt like it prepared me well. I have used becker for FAR and BEC and passed both on 1 try. If you are wondering, what I do is watch the boring video lectures, take notes on anything they underline/highlight/circle. Then I pause the lectures to reread things I do not understand or need more comprehension on. The lecture run from about 2:45-3:45 in length but I usually take 7-9 hours a lecture thru this method. It takes me so long because I want to really understand the stuff before I move on, considering I only give myself 1 day for review b4 my test. Then after I finish the lecture I do all the passmaster questions for that chapter/lecture, redoing any missed ones, and marking them for my final review, until I have 100% correct. I do that for each chapter and usually finish 2 days b4 the exam. Then the next day, the day before the test I do a 3-4 hour review of the chapter, reading over all the parts I underlined during the lectures and then dothe passmaster supplemental questions and Marked questions that I missed for the non-supplemental questions for that chapter that I previously missed. Its all a matter of finding out what way helps you retain the info and considering that you have tried multiple programs, its probably not a different program that is going to help you, but rather your own methods. I suggest changing your study habits and good luck. Also, if you consistently score low on certain sections, obviously targeting those would be a good start.
June 4, 2010 at 12:27 am #229112nooks25ParticipantAnd to think I was the only one who has failed audit multiple times. I'm about to take audit for the 5th time in July. It's the only thing standing between me and my CPA license.
June 4, 2010 at 12:43 am #229113SoanxiousParticipantnooks25 – your not alone. I am hoping to be ready by July to take it for the 6th time – I do not want to see a 7th in my future. I am studying my a– off!!!

June 4, 2010 at 1:29 am #229114NJCPA2BParticipantI hate AUD, I'm curious to know how you prepared for AUD? What review course did you use? And how many practice MCQs you did???
I took AUD on May 30th for my 3rd time, and I prepared differently by doing over 3,000 practice MCQs 3x (from Wiley book, Wiley CD and Gleim Test Prep.). I felt OK during the AUD exam but it wasn't like everybody else said it would be….like you would see many MCQs show up in the actual exam……..However, I did learn alot from doing so many MCQs….I hope I passed on my 3rd time. You guys give me goose bumps though….

June 4, 2010 at 1:30 pm #22911575 CPAParticipantThis was my AUD strategy for my second attempt. I bought Gleim Online and Gleim Test Prep (one package). I took the Gleim dianostic test and I lined up my scores from the AICPA. After I completed Gleim Online, I took the Gleim practice exam.
For example, I received a grade of 68 on the AICPA exam for Information (Evidence), 69 on the Gleim Online diagnostics test and 76% on the Gleim Online Practice exam. Gleim covers audit evidence in chapters 10-13. I found out that chapter 11 was my problem area; therefore, I went to Gleim Test Prep and I worked on Chapter 11.
I ran out of time to complete this process. If I fail AUD for the second time, I will complete this study process.
Studying is just a process. I hope that my study process helps someone who has taken AUD more than once.
June 4, 2010 at 5:25 pm #229116EvanParticipantI just want everyone to know that I feel your pain. I have taken AUD & FAR so many times that I can't remember the number of times I have taken them. I passed REG & BEC three years ago, then lost the credit because I couldn't pass AUD & FAR. I took FAR on 4/24 and AUD on 5/28. If I don't pass FAR & AUD this time then I loose credit for REG & BEC again. The worst part is that I got a 74 on FAR when I took it during the Jan.-Feb. 2010 window.

I'm testing a theory that those that fail AUD (as I have), fail becuase they did not do at least 2,500 practice MCQs. I did over 3,000 MCQs for my 3rd AUD test and I hope I pass! Then my theory makes sense….
