Just curious if I’m taking on too much. I have finals in a few weeks and will be graduating May 10th. I also will be sitting for AUD on May 15th. I initially planned to sit the last week of May but once I received my NTS, May 15th was the latest available date in this test window. I received my Becker materials last week and am currently trying to finish up A2. I’m not going to lie, I have my doubts, but I’m trying to stay positive. Btw, this is my first post, any advice is greatly appreciated.

@angelica it seems like you are preparing correctly then! I never took notes before in my life either (two degrees) and rarely did homework correctly if I even did it. But I have since turned to typing up the entire review books (I use Roger) in my own words/understanding and adding in things as I do MCQ and review flashcards. Then when I am doing more MCQ (prepare to do thousands for each exam), I refer back to them while answering before I look at the answer. This makes sure my notes are correct and thorough and that I am undersatnding the material! I chose typing because I can ctrl + f instead of paging through a textbook “wasting time” in my opinion. Plus typing allows me to add in things where necessary.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I was working full time, taking 2 classes, have 2 kiddos and was the troop leader and part of the cheerleading committee. If I listened to the people who said it was too much or that it couldn't be done, I wouldn't be a CPA today. It was miserable but it was short lived and I wouldn't do it any differently today!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I found that becoming eligible for and passing the CPA exams were a function of time. You want to tighten the window of time it take to complete the credit hours and exams as much as possible so if you can start passing them now, you definitely should. Granted, I am one of those career-change guys who needed to be efficient…but, still– don't take time for granted. Spending your time studying now instead of the alternatives will be appreciated later.

I was able to study for BEC in the last semester of my MBA and took the test the week before finals. With that being said, I probably studied for close to two months. If you have absolutely nothing else to do, I am a strong believer that you can properly study for any of the exams in a month depending on your level of commitment.

    BEC 2/14/14 -- 85
    FAR 4/24/14 -- 88
    REG 5/29/14 -- 92
    AUD 7/1/14 -- ??

@mla1169 Thank you so much! I knew I couldn't be only “crazy” one with taking on soo much! lol I actually don't mind it when people tell me I can't do it or doubt me, gives me that extra motivation to prove them wrong 😉

@rfc63 I agree! I spend almost all my free time on studying, whether it be at work, school or at home. I can't always spend hours at a time studying cause I get a little anxiety so I take breaks here and there. I find I can absorb the information better by not spending over a few hours at a time studying.

@ncont19 Well I work, am married and have children. But I can fit in the study time. I watch the lectures at home with my headphones on and I turn the volume up pretty high so background noise doesn't really distract me much. At work, I try to work on as many MCQs as time permits.
