    I feel like everytime I do a practice research simulation, I find what I think is the right answer, but then it ends up being a further down paragraph or a completly different section???? The paragraphs I find have the information the question is asking for…..but almost always the answer I put to the practice question with the becker software is wrong? what am I missing???? How do you know which one to pick….I passed Reg no problem and I feel like the research simulations are easy for that. Is there some kind of trick for audit???? I feel like that is what could be the difference between passing and failing? Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Bump…….Any research simulation strategies for audit?

    You must watch the key terms in the prompt. I had the same problem as you and I am so glad I practiced the research before going into my exam. Although I failed with a 74!!!! I know I got research right. Maybe they asked for an “example” or “procedure”. These are the things you must look out for. Keep practicing them it helps.

    I wish they could fix the title. I keep reading, Adult Research Simulation. 🙂

    So when you say “be aware of the prompts for an example or procedure” how would you handle each one? Does one directly relate to looking for the report that fits the research question and the other prompt you to find a paragraph that explains it?

    Search for the topic first. Once you find it, then re-read the prompt and see if it states that it wants an example vs. the explanation. Read down the whole section on the topic to find what it's asking for. Does that make more sense?

    dahebruii I understand your frustration. I am running into the same problem. I haven't had trouble with the research on any other section or even studying for audit in the last testing window. I have used Becker everytime and it was very straightforward. But now, with Becker 2013 Audit version B, the research is very tricky. I find a section in the clarified standards that answers the question sometimes word for word, but it is not the right answer. Is there anyone that has any advice or guidance with the new clarified standards research questions?

    @AlmostDone71

    I haven't done any of the new ones yet, but my guess would be watch the dates, if any, in the problem. The Clarity is only for engagements 12/15/12 and forward on.

    I”ve had this issue too, and I think littlenumberrobot has the right idea. Read the question and understand what they are asking. Do enough practice questions to feel more comfortable with it.

    Also, I don't know what study material you are using, but the search function is limited for Wiley. There is no “search within” making it more difficult to find the right answer. So keep that in mind and don't beat yourself up too much.

    @10key I know I hate that they don't have the search within on Wiley TB!! But if you take the little practice exam on the AICPA website it's exactly like the exam and they usually always have a research sim on the practice. I'd recommend always checking it out before taking the exam.
