Hey everyone. So I got the elusive 74 on audit! I have already started studying for BEC, have BEC scheduled on October 8th, FAR scheduled on November 30th. I was wondering what people thought the best game plan would be as far as retaking?

I was thinking continue with BEC and PASS it on the 8th, then retake audit in the end of October, and push FAR back until the beginning of January? I havn’t had to retake or been in this position so I’m not sure how quickly information will begin to slip outta my head!

Also – when restudying – does it make sense to just start as if I hadn’t studied before and go through it all over again from scratch?

    74 is so awesome.

    A - 10/28/12 - Passed!!!
    B - 11/20/12 - Passed!!!
    F - 11/12/13 - Passed!!!
    R - 02/01/13 - Passed!!!

    Work Experience - Done!
    Ethics Exam - Boom! Done!

How long did you study for AUD?

If you can study 6 hours a day I don't see why you can't take BEC on the 8th, then AUD at the end of Oct, and then FAR at the end of Nov.

I would restudy as if I never studied the material because you don't want to slack on a topic because you feel comfortable and then get burned.

NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

I would follow mmcgrad1's advice on when to take the exams. Once you receive your score report, you will be able to see your weak areas. Tackle these areas first. Then, continue strengthening all areas until test day. I would practice only MCQs and SIMS. You will kill it next time.

    FAR Passed
    REG Passed
    AUD Passed
    BEC Passed

All aboard, this train's leaving. Next stop, TBD!

A 74 is SOOOO close to passing! As frustrating as it is, you need to recognize this (trust me, I know first hand x2 how frustrating it is).

I would recommend going back in as soon as you can so you don't need to take as much time to refresh yourself on the topics you reviewed. If you're already preparing for another section, continue your plan with this section and just work your retake in.

In terms of restudying, I would definitely utilize that chart that is received with your score notification. I don't think you need to go back to square one and restudy, but I think you need to take a step back and think about the exam you had. What areas did you read the question and think, oh crap I don't remember that?! Those are the areas that you need to continue your focus on. Still review the other items to ensure you know them, but really master those you either questioned or do not know as well.

Lastely, do multiple choice practice quesitons like they are going out of style!! The more quesitons you do, the more likely you will be to recognize what the examiners are looking for and know the theory behind it so you can better apply the theory to your task based simulations.

    Good luck on your retake!

I thought I would send a quick update since I started this post:

    I retook it and PASSED!!

I could have sworn I bombed it, and I could have sworn I passed the first time, so strange! Thank you all for the advice! I actually pushed BEC back until a week from today, pushed FAR back until January, and focused on retaking AUD. So I used a little bit of advice from all, and I appreciate it!

    A - 10/28/12 - Passed!!!
    B - 11/20/12 - Passed!!!
    F - 11/12/13 - Passed!!!
