Just got my score breakdown this past week……..needless to say I have been quite unhappy……three shy of passing.

The TBS’s were my downfall……..COMPARALBE in m/c’s and WEAKER in the simulations.

Any ideas on what is the best way to approach now?? How do I study for the TBS’s?? I am using Wiley.

    Thanks………..

I was 2pts shy of passing. I know how you feel. I have yet to receive my breakdown, but I'm pretty sure it's weaker in SIMS. I have no idea why. I felt good about most of my SIMS except maybe 1-2. One was J/E, and I'm pretty sure I mixed up my debit and credit…silly, I know:(

I'm going through each chapter of Becker. Then going through wiley online test bank, reading through Ninja notes and then doing Becker Final review. This way, I'll be prepared for MCQs and hopefully understanding concepts will help me with SIMS….idk how to practice for SIMS.

Good Luck to both of us!

On my first shot at Audit, I got a 71…I was stronger in MC and weaker in SIMS (which I knew). The approach I used was a little radical, but worked for me. After taking BEC & REG, I spent about 3 or 4 days reviewing the material. I did 1 to 2 chapters a day. I didn't focus on grilling the MC in the Becker software, but instead read through the chapters and took notes as needed (I found writing down things helped reinforce the concepts for me). I did about 5 or 10 MC questions per chapter just to do a little practice, but really made sure I had the concepts down. I took the exam a second time and breezed through the multiple choice and had enough time to really tackle the SIMS and utilize the research tab…I even found exact journal entries in the research tab for a couple of my SIMS. When I got my results, I was happy to see that my score jumped 20 points!

You both are almost there. Hope this helps. Good luck 🙂

LoL i never thought of using the extra time to utilize the research tab.

    GREAT IDEA

Yes! I am amazed at how much it helps. Easily, helped with at least 3 or 4 of the SIMS 🙂

    Thanks soontobecpa2011:

I started really focusing on reading the chapters now and absorbing the material….its coming much easier than before but needless to say, I am worried wondering if this is going to be enough to help me do well on the TBS's.

I really need to get this done this time around……..this is really killing my confidence!!!!

@Rocky—I know it can be a little daunting. If you have the time, you could practice some SIMS through your software just to gain a bit more confidence. But, as long as you nail the concepts, you should be prepared for anything they throw at you.

    @soon2be..

How do you go about using the research tabs? Like, if there's a question and you have to do journal entries, what do you look for? There's a ton of stuff in the research tab, i'm not sure what I need to be looking for or what path to go on!

    Good question.

I don't think that the research tab can help with JEs as much as it can with other things. For journal entries, the best thing you can do is have a good understanding of the types of JEs you are most likely to see. Understanding transaction cycles helps a lot. I do JEs all the time at work so that helped. What do you struggle with most about journal entries?

To turned my failing REG score to a passing REG score, I also saved a lot of time to use the research literature to find answers on my sims. It helped a LOT… although I did have trouble finding some stuff. But I'm sure that I gained at least 5 points just from spending a lot of time in research. I was so tired.. ready to throw in the towel because I couldn't find an answer.. and then wa-la, there the answer was. Never give up. Use every second that you have.

To help out with some of the journal entries, there were some that I knew the basic journal entries for but couldn't think of how to perform the calculations. The research tab had information on how to make the calculations. It also had sample entries for some. The way I used the research tab is to search by specific topic. Then, spend the time going through it. It was definitely time consuming, but I breezed through the multiple choice so I easily had 2+ hours to methodically go through everything. Hope this helps 🙂
