I started covering Audit Sampling in my early sunday morning study session. *YAWN* My hard work and determination mantra is really being put to the test right now. This makes me want to go back to bed.

This might be an area that I need to cover twice. Although, I looked at the AUD blueprints and it doesn't seem that sampling techniques will be extensively covered on the test. Thank Goodness!!

@Allsheneededwassome: Thanks! This is not my 1st AUD attempt. Looks like you are also in SF Bay area. Wish we can connect in person.

@PDiddy: Gleim says that it's best to just know the basics of Sampling & not to go deep into it.

@pdiddy sorry idk why I thought your exam was coming up soon. My wishes are way premature lol.

Sacpa: haha yes but I would make such a terrible study partner I have two good days followed by 5 bad days of studying; so unpredictable with the guilt trips from husband/kids and all their sickness. But I can't blame them… I've been at it for so long and I've missed out on so much. 😪

@allsheneed My AUD exam is May 8 so I have a little more than 2 weeks left to go but if you're handing out well wishes, I'll take them. 🙂

@Allsheneededwassome: Same here. My schedule is unpredictable with something or other coming up. I also have been in this for a long time. This past year has specially been very trying with as many challenging issues needing immediate attention as possible. The minute I open my book & get focused, something happens & needs to be followed up on & then it takes a while to get back to studying. I see this a a test to my tenacity to make me stronger & get to business. I almost took AUD this Jan & here I am starting all over after tax season.

Kudos to you for passing 3 sections in spite of all that is going on in your life. The struggle, pain, suffering & sacrifice is real. Having coming so close to passing, I am sure you will nail AUD this time. All the best!

I have been working in audit for a year and a half and am taking the test on 5/30/18. My Becker software expired and I’ve already used the extension. I looking to get people’s thoughts on my options:

    1. Use Becker for AUD as well as I’m already accustomed to their format and structure
    2. Use another review course to save money
    3. Only use Becker final review as it cost less and I have experience in audit (IOW is the final review enough)

    All responses appreciated.

Ds300, what were your prior scores in AUD?

@Amor, I meant that Audit is what I practice. But I did take it once before- in Jan, without studying to try and get it out of the way before busy season as I knew I wouldn't have another opportunity to take it in Q1- and got a 62.

    No shame for that score.

    A 62 is as bad as a 74 so is a 75 is as good as a 99.
Without studying and still got a 62 is not that bad. At least you acknowledged that it was you, not your source review material gets blamed for missing the (75) mark.

If I were in your shoes, I’d stick with Becker and pay the half-discounted price (around $500) if I can afford it or if there’s still room in my credit card. Option B would be, buy the latest edition of the Becker’s AUD textbook that I could find from EBay. ($100)

Read the book, review your old notes, and then get NINJA MCQs. Getting the Becker’s final review AUD for $170 is also a great idea.

    Good luck!

If I were you I’d stick with Becker. It seems to be working for you since you’ve passed the remaining sections. Idk how cheap the other softwares are but at the end of the day you’re still going to spend $x on something else. So if $ is not an issue just go with Becker and spend $500 on the returning student discount.

I work in tax and I don’t think I would have passed REG just purely on Beckers final review. So it might not be worth it; just do it correctly from the getgo. Good luck!

@sacpa Scores are not in percentile or else the same percentage would pass in every window. Getting a 99 doesn't mean top 1%. There is just some weird weighting going on.

edit: Another way to see this is if scores were percentile then the score distribution would be linear, just as many people would score 99 as 75. We know that is not true, the score distribution is bell-shaped.

edit2: Now whether a 100 is possible I don't know. It's possible if you get every single question correct the system would still give 99 just because the extra digit would add unnecessary complexity to their systems.

    Good morning guys…………

I was out of town and could not get a chance to write about my AUD experience which I took last week.
1st and 2nd testlet was good, I marked at least 4 in 1st and 7-8 in 2nd testlet. The sims were medium to high difficulty level, but I never felt like I have never studied for this (Can't guess it this is the pretest). This was the first time I was left with 15 minutes in hand, but I decided not to leave the room and rechecked my 3 sims in 5th testlet in AL. I felt good walking out of the room, not sure if it will turn out good or bad 😀 . My suggestion is don't take any topic as, “this is not important” please study and remember cover to cover.

After a week rest thinking about keep practicing FAR and AUD (just in case).

The new thing came up when my boss said when I was back in office missing all the fun of TAX season and only studying for FAR and AUD that, She does not have any work for me outside of Tax season. Now that I am done with my exams the only thing left with me to do is work under a CPA to get 2000 hours which is the requirement of Wyoming state CPA licensing. So this week starting to apply for new job whether paid or unpaid, part-time or full-time doesn't matter; need hours, that's it!

Any tip on applying new jobs will be greatly appreciated. I can be flexible to applying out of town too…

@tim: we’re all rooting for you to get that EW!!! Curious how the process works.. how do you know you’re in the running or not

@Tim: Long time back, I read somewhere that the scores are graded on a scale of 0-99, which does not represent ‘percent correct'. Maybe the percentile part that I mentioned was not right.
Btw, I hope you win EWS award! Good Luck!
