    Just did the AICPA practice test for AUD today and good grief at the documents to sift through. Some of them prove irrelevant and it takes time to find out what they're asking. So, I think my plan is to finish MCQ around 1 hour and have 3 for the Sims. Found the practice exam research question correctly so that's a huge boost for me personally.

    Just finished up. MCQ was fine and sims were awful, but that’s exactly the same way I felt coming out of FAR. Hopefully the end result will be the same. Onward to REG!

    @pdiddy2000 I was done in 3 hours, could have finished in 2.5 probably but I spent a lot of time at the end trying to search the authoritative literature for any help with my last sim set haha

    Is anyone else really struggling to study for Audit? I'm using Becker, and even though I feel like I “understand” it, the MCQs are kicking my butt. I'm trying really hard to take notes, but everything is starting to feel repetitive… 🙁

    My exam is May 11, and I really want to pass and get it out of the way as I am starting a new job on May 16. Does anyone have any suggestions and tips?

    TIA 🙂

    @rahee

    It's perfectly normal to feel that way, but everything will come together during your review phase. Just make sure you stay consistent with your study plan, and keep doing cumulative sets of Becker progress tests (I do in sets of 36 MCQs) so that you don't forget the earlier topics you learned.

    I found some of the units covered in Becker to be purely memorization, such as different types of audit reports and their variations, SSAE vs. SSARs, etc. There is no really logical reasoning behind these, so the repetition may be the key to remember, but if you can logically think through these, then go for it. The only intuitive/logical reasoning topics are different types of transaction cycles and their related internal controls/substantive tests stuff.

    Anyways, keep up the good work, and you'll get through this.

    Progress Update:

    At this point, I've been consistently averaging 90's on Becker progress tests in sets of 36 MCQs (I've been doing 660 MCQs each day – 10 sets of 360 MCQs from Becker and 10 sets of 30 MCQs from Ninja) and averaging around 88% and trending 86% on Ninja MCQs. I still have the second Becker mock exam to take, but I'll take that this Sunday or Mon, and I doubt I'll score high on those and I never did – I just take these for additional MCQs and practice. I feel prepared for AUD, but I'm sure I'll still feel like crap after coming out of the test center.

    4 more days! Moving onto BEC after this. Let's finish strong ladies and gents.

    Well I'm about ready to scream…. Was killing MCQs until yesterday, now I can't get over a 75 to save my life on a 20 question set. Idk if I was just getting easier random sets earlier or what, but I have this exam Friday and really don't want to screw it away. Thoughts?

    @Big4Bean and others!

    Sorry for being MIA, I took a 4 day break from all things CPA before jumping into REG.

    As for my advice, I would say to do the AICPA Practice Exam. I know some people think it's a waste of time, but the SIMs on my exam were very similar so it's worth your time. Also, make sure you have a general big picture understanding of the material. I know it's easier said than done, but don't get bogged down by the little details in the multiple choice!

    In addition, before the exam I made a list of Skills Practice and SIMs (from Becker) to review that are Evaluation and Analysis. I really think it helped me be as prepared as possible for the SIMs. Hope this helps!

    Sims to practice:
    A2_Sim 1_4
    A2_Sim 2_4
    A3_Sim1_1,4,5,6
    A3_Sim2_1,2,6,7
    A3_Sim3_1,6
    A4_Sim1_2,4,6,7
    A4_Sim2_1,3,5-9
    A4_Sim3_1,2,5, and 6

    Skills Practice to Review:
    A1 M10 – Subsequent Events
    A2 M7 – Risk Assessment Part 1
    A3 M1 – Fraud Risk
    A3 M2 – Audit Risk
    A3 M3 – Identifying, Assessing, and Responding to Risk
    A3 M4 – Specific Areas of Engagement Risk
    A3 M5 – Sufficient Appropriate Evidence
    A3 M6 – Procedures to Obtain Evidence
    A3 M7 – Financial Ratios
    A4 M8 – Misstatements and Control Deficiencies
