2012 Study Materials?

    Hello,

I’m beginning to study for the exams again and own the 2012 Wiley set and test bank (was going to take the exam last year but life got in the way). I hope to have all of the exams done by mid 2014.

In what ways will the 2012 materials be deficient for the current exams? Are there supplementary materials/summaries out there?

    Thanks.

Audit has had some big changes. If you plan to take Audit yet this year, I'd find a cheap copy of Wiley's Audit book (this is the cheapest copy online at the moment: https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=10822470695 ) to get up-to-date – the test bank updates itself, presuming you have the online subscription. If you have a CD copy of the test bank, and if it doesn't do online updates, then you will want to focus on the questions in the book for Module 5, rather than the ones in the test bank. If you're taking the test next year, then there will be some more changes, so I would hold off and get the 2014 book at that time.

Alternatively, you could get Jeff's NINJA Audio or Notes to get updates on the new material: https://www.another71.com/products-page/ninja-audio/ but the audio for Audit costs more than that copy of the book, and I didn't feel like it gave enough info about the changes to have felt comfortable just with it. However, if you were getting the Audio or Notes anyway, then they do include some info on the changes.

I haven't heard of any major changes to the other exams, so you're probably good with 2012 materials for the others!

Thanks, that exactly the info I was looking for.

I have the 2012 CD test bank and haven't used it yet, I'll see if it updates or not. If I have to buy the new AUD questions, no biggie. I'll definitely have to grab the '13 or '14 Wiley book depending on when I take AUD (I was going to take it 3rd).

Thank you Lilla. I had several pages of material on the changes that I intentionally left out.

For exam purposes, I felt like it wasn't necessary to break down the standards paragraph by paragraph. It was information overload and I didn't want candidates to get distracted by it, so I cut it.

The ninja notes aren't a textbook, so I only included the must-know info at the expense of people thinking it was light 🙂

Yep, they're not a textbook, so that's why I said that I didn't feel like the NINJA materials on their own covered it in sufficient detail. So, if the OP's sole goal in purchasing something was to get good info on the changes, that's not the purpose of the audio. Not slamming the material – just giving an honest opinion on it, and basically saying the same thing that you said.

Yeah, I was mostly looking for the right source for the “meat” of my studying. I'm certainly looking into the ninja supplemental study tools but I really wanted to avoid learning the wrong info, then having to “delete” it out of my mind, so to speak.

There really isn't anything to “delete”.

The new material is basically the same as the old material – except for these few instances (Audit Reports), which I outline.

    That and some terminology changes.

They are testing both ways until January.
