forever4MemberI think it is possible because this is his second time taking the test. If it was his first, there would be no way. With that amount of materials, 2 days studying from nothing wouldnt be possible.
=> In order to pass, people still have to put in a good amount of studying time.
FAR 5/14 88 PASSED!
REG 7/13 74 :((((((((....! I cant believe it!!!! I studied so hard...
REG retake 11/29 -> 89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEC 10/11/12 -> 84!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AUD 10/25/12 -> 95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm DONE! OMG 8 months of hard work.
I SHALL PASS. BECAUSE IT'S ME, SO EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!

Substantially more. I've been studying 3-4 hours per night for about 2 weeks. I realize that still doesn't seem like that much but I think the most I've ever studied for any test before this exam was a couple of hours for a final in college. Studying 3-4 hours per night for a couple weeks is WAY more than I've ever done.
I'm taking it this Saturday so we'll see how it goes. I'm feeling fairly confident of where I'm at right now. I like my odds I guess.
For what it's worth, a little constructive suggestion for anyone that is interested in hearing from an immature “db,” I don't think hammering out MCQ's is the way to go. I have Wiley software. For Reg, hammering out MCQ's isn't going to teach me anything. What I did, is read each section in the text. I then took a practice test with Wiley and am going back and re-reading the pieces that I did not do well.
I don't see any reason to hammer MCQ's for areas I'm strong in. Additionally, if I don't understand a subject, doing MCQ's on it and then getting an explanation of why that specific answer is right for that specific question is not nearly as effective as understanding the underlying concept that is taught within the text.
Use the MCQ's to supplement what you are choosing to use your study time on and to verify that you understand things you think you understand. Doing MCQ after MCQ isn't going to help you come test time if you don't thoroughly understand the concept. You end up just memorizing the answers to the questions in your test bank.
This was the same strategy I used for BEC.

forever4Membersry i was confused with your FAR.
It's good for you to pass with 2 days of good studying though. But it apparently didn't work for reg and far coz of its large amount of materials. Not saying you're not smart, but it's not something that would happen absolutely every time.
I saw that you've been studying for reg. Im almost certain that you'll pass (coz i think you're smart enough).
Good luck
Also, this is the first time in my life i've been studied this much. I always crammed the night before for couple of hrs lol. I totally understand how you feel!

Maged MelioMemberI believe it is possible specially if you are fresh gradaute and have a clear strategy to study.
I wish the best and more success for you.
If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.

ReneeNCMemberI think what works is dependent on the person. For me and my REG score, “hammering” MCQ, taking notes on the ones I missed, and doing flashcards over and over again got me an 89.
Reading a text would get me….nothing. If I don't take notes, it didn't happen!
REG - 89
BEC - 82
FAR - 87
AUD - 81

SandraMemberI can't believe how threatened some of you guys are by people that have success on these tests with minimal effort. Some people are really really good test takers and that makes a HUGE difference. Some people have background in the field so can make it through because they understand key concepts. Some people are just plain smart and can reverse engineer a lot of the answers. Some people get plain lucky and happen to get exactly the SIMS and MCQs that they know the answer to.
So what if the OP was posting just to brag?!? Passing a section with minimal study is awesome! Also its encouraging to those of use that haven't taken the test yet. So many people fail and fail and fail again that its easy to forget that these tests ARE passable.
I use this site for my “breaks” every 20-30 minutes or so along with facebook, etc. I've picked up some good tips on here but also found myself getting somewhat discouraged when someone posts “I've failed this test for the ____ time”. Thats especially true for those that feel like they are prepared going in and then fail anyway. Because we are all hidden behind our screennames there is very little context in those posts… someone may say they have prepared for 800 hours and still failed, when really they consider watching Family guy with a CPA book in their lap studying… Either way stuff like that can bring any test taker down.
I don't consider not passing each section the first time an option, so I can't get too worried about how everyone else is doing, but it cheers me up to see posts like this. The days around score release are gloomy enough on here- why is a bit of good news so horrible? Its not you against the fellow test takers- its you against the test.
So anyway- congrats to the OP. Hope REG goes just as well for you.

Mrs 300ParticipantSandra, if you look at Jeff's story you will find that the purpose of this site is for people overcoming failures and excuses and laziness to go on to pass the CPA exam. A lot of people that come here do so because they are struggling with the exam. Everyone takes pride in the fact that they work hard, put in the hours and then finally come around to pass.
Here is an excerpt from Jeff's story:
“This blog is about overcoming failures, circumstances, laziness, excuses and passing the CPA Exam, no matter your age, no matter how long it takes, no matter what people say.”
This really isn't the place to talk about how wonderful you are because you studied for 2 days and passed. Or at least that's not what I get from it.
Believe me, I think it's awesome that people can do it. I know a few people that studied for a week or a weekend and passed. Am I jealous? Of course I am. Am I impressed? Absolutely. But this website just doesn't seem like the appropriate forum for that kind of talk.
That is all.
REG - 80 (Becker only)
BEC - 76 (Becker only)
AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)CPA Class of 2012 🙂
