After putting in around 160 hours, 2000+ MCQS, 150+ SIMS, 7 full practice tests the week leading up to the exam (results from 80-90%), daily Ninja Audio, weekly Ninja Notes, a complete read through and notes/outlines prepared of every chapter in Becker Text, a Wiley test bank average of 88%…I found out this afternoon that I FAILED AUDIT AGAIN. I actually did worse this time than the last, I’ve gone from a 71 to a 68. I was calm and collected at prometric and left feeling like I had a strong chance of passing…I almost fell over to see a 68 after working so hard. I AM SO ANGRY.

I have no idea what I could have done differently or why this happened. I didn’t slack off one bit and was proud of the effort I put in this time around. I feel SO incredibly angry and very confused as to what I did wrong.

Where do I go from here? Should I retest ASAP in April? Should I obtain new materials? Any feedback or ideas on how to approach Audit differently are tremendously appreciated.

MintsRGood is definitely a motivator for those of us struggling with audit!!

    My questions are

    1. Are there specific ratios more important than others and can you find the ratio information in AL?

    2. There are a ton of opinions and audit letters. Can anyone shed some light on which ones they think are the most important ones to know to pass the audit exam?

    Thanks everyone….!

Thanks guys!!!!! I still can't believe it and I've never been so happy to study cost accounting and econ in my life! 😉

@Gonnabe The reporting section is very tricky! To have success on this topic, you need to know the batting order and content of the report paragraphs COLD for unqualified, modified unqualified, qualified, adverse, and disclaimer. I memorized the standard unqualified report to capture the content and batting order. Once you have the unqualified down, you can apply the exceptions for the other opinions! I really liked the presentation of this info from the Wiley text vs. the Becker text. The Wiley text is $35 bucks off Amazon and worth every penny!!!!!!!! I'm not sure I can answer your question about the ratios without a disclosure violation, sorry!!!! Just make sure you are familiar and up to speed! Also, The Ninja notes also have a great summary of reporting and batting orders, and was one of the only mnemonics I kept around for this retake! The Ninja audio daily was also a large part of my audit success, both are cost effective and worth checking out!!!!!

    What materials are you using?

    Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

@Mints….I've been using Becker but have the Wiley test bank to add additional questions and simulations to the mix. I have a friend who suggested I record my own recordings for both reports and ratios to get them in my head. She recorded the reports to background music and still remembers them when she hears the song on the radio!!

I did the ratios on my recorder and found it was very helpful. I think by me reading it to the recording and then listening to it over and over, that helps!

Thanks for the suggestions….I sit on May 20th so I'm in my final stages of review. Is that Wiley book you spoke about the 2012 version or 2013? The fact that the test is changing in July is a real bummer for me right now!

    Thanks again…..

Good luck @GonnaBeACPA!!!! I picked up the 2013 Wiley book, it has the info for exams before and after 7/1. Hit it hard for the next few weeks and let us know how it goes on score release day!
