Wow- you all weren't kidding about the AUD AL

So I took my AUD exam today and the first section was a piece of cake, second session was pretty tough, and the third section was pretty tough too.

I will tell you this- in REG the other answer choices were VERY similar and I was guessing on most after I got it down to 50/50…in AUD it was pretty easy to pick an answer just by eliminating the other choices. Don’t get me wrong, there were some questions I had no clue and others I made guesses but that was like 9 or 10 in the whole test.

The SIMs were worded VERY poorly in my opinion.. BUT WOW…the AL was a life saver…I looked so many answers and one SIM was literally an exhibit in the AL. I felt like I was cheating! Despite that, I did have to make some guesses on the SIMs because I was so confused on the wording.

I’m not sure if I passed or not…I sure hope I did b/c I studied my butt off. I heard it’s bad to feel good after a test, so I’m not so happy about this positive feeling. After Reg I was pretty sure I got a failing score…

    AUD- 97 1x
    REG- 81 1x
    BEC- 79 1x
    FAR- 88 1x

    DONE!

Without giving out any exam info away, can you speak more about the AL? How did you get the info? What steps did you run through – e.g., topic search, word search?

I have a good review course which has the AL provided (similar to the actual exam), but I haven't had success with finding answers to SIMs while utilizing the AL. Can you run us through a fake scenario using real auditing/accounting?

I keep hearing how important the AL is for AUD, so I'm curious as well. I've already taken FAR and REG so I know how to use the AL, but I usually skip the becker practice sims because I don't consider them an efficient use of time. Should I do them for AUD?

    F - 86
    R - 90
    A - 97
    B - 91

What do you mean by Audit AL? I am studying this right now and I take it at the end of the month… am I missing something?

    FAR - 81
    REG - 81
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 81

Authoritative Literature. Using AL on the SIMS to help find the correct answer.

I found it very helpful during my test too. I would just find the broad area I think it would be in, then just did a “search within” for the keywords in the sim. I would just skim through until I found the exact answer. I got pretty lucky and I want to say 5 out of 7 I was able to use the AL. Make sure you leave yourself enough time at the end.

    FAR 4/13 done
    AUD 5/13 waiting
    REG 7/13
    BEC 8/13

I did not “practice” though during study time. It really is just using a basic search engine so just be familiar with it and just use your time doing MCQ's

    FAR 4/13 done
    AUD 5/13 waiting
    REG 7/13
    BEC 8/13

I scored a 76 on my Audit exam, and I'm confident in knowing that using the AL for the SIMs saved my life.

Using the AL is a lifesaver. I've taken Auditing twice and scored “Stronger” both times on the Sims. Found many of them word for word.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I just took AUD last week and the AL saved me on 2 SIMS. Literally, I think I would have gotten a 0 on one SIM if I didnt have it. It was all of these circumstances on whether independence is impaired in an attest engagement. I have literally never heard of the scenarios they were giving, but in the AL there was a table with almost word for word so i basically found 8/10 of them and I know I got them correct.

Another weird thing on my SIMS, I got TWO research SIMS… that can't be normal right? I guess one “wont count”? I really hate audit btw, with a burning passion.

Took AUD on saturday & i completely agree. i dont know why (or if) the review courses don't mention this. Becker definitely didnt mention it, right? i could've used this gem a long time ago.

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!
    Licensed CPA!

Used Becker self-study materials (just this for FAR original & REG #1), WileyTestBank, NINJA notes/audio, and Roger cram course for AUD #5, REG #3 & FAR reboot. CPA!
