Just curious if anyone has a similar experience. I had only felt this confident after leaving REG, which I wasn’t 100% but I had figured I had a good chance of passing. The Facts:

    1. I used the AL for all of the SIMS (for 2 hours)….so I thought I had them right. There were 2 sims that I could have bombed if I misinterpreted them….so 5/7?

    2. MCQ’s didn’t feel that bad, I thought it progressively got more difficult and then leveled off. Pretty standard.

    3. Scored the best in Becker as far as MCQ’s go (out of all four exams I’ve taken), but usually my final exams give me a nice 10-20 points above what I score for MCQ and this time I hadn’t gained any but actually lost. I did skip half of the sims in Becker when I was running out of time, so that’s something I could do to reinforce what I had learned.

I was predicting (to myself) 80’s. Actually got a 59!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF! I was in shock when I saw that…. If I did fail, I was expecting it to be close.

It’s ridiculous, but I keep checking to see if the number was transposed. Will be interesting to see this score report…

Anyway, I obviously have a long way to go to re-take, and now I am just so scared that I don’t know anything. I feel so lost. Any similar experiences?

Just got my diagnostic report. This breaks my heart even more – Comparable in all topics, strong in MCQ's, but weak in Sims. It's those darn Sims that got me!

I was the same. I thought I had Audit by at least a 80. Could recall all of Becker book along with 700 MCs. IDK what happened. I felt ok leaving the exam but turns out that I wasn't. Scored a 68, three points higher from my first try. A 74 would be better than a 68 in my opinion.

I felt the same way. To be honest I thought the MCQs were easy (maybe I was going too fast and they were tricky). But all in all, I felt confident but from what I keep hearing. The more confident you feel the more worried you should be.

Contrary to what many people think I don't think the exam is memorization but rather conceptual. There is a difference. Where most of us go wrong and me too considering I got a 74 is that the questions are worded so that if you change one word the answer to the question changes. If you memorize then you will miss it but if you read each question as it's “own entity” then your chances are better getting it correct. I was close so I understand the information, now I have to work on my test taking skills more so for AUD than any other section.

@arushi89, did you find out your score this past Friday, and just got your score report? Just curious if I need to request mine. I am interested to know where I went wrong…..SIMS could be likely.

I took it on May 30. Felt unsure about it, then started feeling really good about it and thought I passed. Made a 70. Frustrating. The SIMS were pretty ridiculous except for the letter and 2 research problems. Reflecting on the questions, they weren't really testing your knowledge of the information but trying to word answers to confuse. I guess that can be said about all 4 parts of this exam. I'm sure they get off after these testing windows to see what questions tripped up the most candidates.

    Ditto what bcarmi 4384 said…

AUD can seem deceptively easy. I ended up with lots of time to spare for the first three testlets compared to what I had budgeted. Since I had spare time, I made myself go back and re-read and recheck all my answers, just to be sure I didn't inadvertently misread any of the questions since the wording is so tricky. In each of the MCQ testlets I found one or two questions where, upon reading it one more time, I realized I had answered too quickly – I had answered what I THOUGHT the question was asking and not what it actually was asking.

In my opinion this is why it can be helpful to do at least one simulated exam in exam mode before you actually sit. The day before I sat for AUD, I took a practice exam in Becker and found that almost all the mistakes I made in that practice exam were careless ones that would have been caught if I just RTFQ. Not saying that is the case for y'all, but if you really feel like you mastered the material, this is one possible reason for the WTF score.

I also think it's important to do lots of practice SIMs in addition to the MCQs.

@arushi89 thanks! No score report yet, I will wait until next week before I request it. I was, however, able to apply for re-examination via NASBA just now….if anyone was wondering.

@wrj02 – I have a feeling i will be in the same boat as you. Just took audit today

Time for me to join the procession……

I took AUD a few weeks ago and was sure I passed in high 80's, low 90's…..

Got a 68!! I haven't gotten the diagnostics back on it yet.

This makes me a little upset because when I took it, I finished a half hour early, and use the Authoritative literature on most of the Sims, and found most of the answers. I figured there's no way I could've failed since I FOUND the answers right in front of me. I'm not gonna ask for a rescore, but these pretest questions are unbelievable. I must have gotten all those right, and all the wrong ones came from the “real” questions.

Well this thread does not make me feel very good. I am worried that i am in the same boat.

I think the thing with Audit is, it is the section that produces the highest scores. The exam is graded based upon how the other test takers score, therefore, if the ‘comparable' range of test takers are dominating the exam, then in order to pass you have to do pretty well in comparison. In terms of the CPA exam, 75% does not necessarily mean you got 75% of the questions right. So potentially, i guess you could get 75% of questions correct and still fail because you did not score ‘comparable' to others.

    FAR- PASSED (11/13)
    REG- PASSED (2/14)
    BEC- PASSED (5/14)
    AUD- PASSED (8/14)

If it's important to you, you will find a way. If it isn't, you will find an excuse.

I felt the same way coming out of AUD the first time around. I thought I was definitely in the mid-to-high 80s with an outside shot of 90s. I remember being very cocky about my test-taking abilities walking out of that exam an hour early. I did the same thing, rechecking my scores every day or so because I was certain there was a grading or score-entry mistake. Finally, I accepted the fact that I clearly did not understand AUD as well as I originally thought I did. I buckled down and studied harder for round 2.

Auditing is the devil. It's the trickiest of all the sections, IMHO. A single word changes the entire nuance of a question, which is why you must RTMFQ 2-3 times before you even look at the answer choices!!! Also, audit is NOT as simple as memorizing tons of info. Once I stopped memorizing and dove head first into deep comprehension of the material, I passed!
