Ok, I’m taking Aud for the first time Saturday. I wanted to gauge the opinion of most on here when it comes to preparing for the SIMS.

I’ve seen instances where people have said you don’t need to study/practice them because you can essentially search the reference material in the SIMS to help you get your answers. Is this how most attack the SIMS in the actual exam?

Outside of when I was using Wiley, I have not touched a SIM using Ninja. So, for those that have taken and passed Aud, how much time did you spend preparing for SIMS? Thanks.

I used Becker and supplemented with Ninja. I did the SIMS for the two Becker finals and maybe a dozen for Ninja and I got a 92. If you know the material you'll be fine.

    BEC - 80 (Becker)
    AUD - 92 (Becker+NINJA MCQ)
    FAR - 87 (Becker+NINJA MCQ)
    REG - 90 (Becker+NINJA MCQ and Audio)

I strongly believe in practicing the SIMS.

SIMS present the information in a different way than in MCQ, so it's an additional way to learn it, and even learn different angles to the rules/material. It will challenge you in ways that the MCQ did/do not.

I wouldn't plan to rely too much on the reference material for your SIMS. That just takes more time during your exam.

The more you know in your head without having to research information, the more time you can spend on the test.

Of course, if you really need the research tool, it's great that it's there.

But when studying, prepare yourself as if you won't have it at all, then only plan to use it in an “emergency” – last resort situation.

    FAR - 86 - 2/27/14
    AUD - 75 - 5/29/14
    BEC - 80 - 8/31/14
    REG - 89 - 2/27/15
    Praise Jesus! I'm done!!

    Study resources:
    Becker
    Wiley test bank
