I just received my performance compared to passing candidates and this is how I did:

    Understanding engagement – Weaker

    Understanding entity – comparable

    procedures and evidence – stronger

    evaluation and reporting – stronger

accounting and review services – stronger

    professional responsibilities – stronger

    MCQs overall (60%) – stronger

    Sims overall (40%) – weaker

I got a 70 on this test. This is so frustrating!!!! Overall on the MCQs I was Stronger – which is 60%!!! How much weaker was I on the sims to get a failing grade???? now I’m more mad!!!! Has anyone else looked at their performance and think they should have made a 75?

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

i know its frustrating, i have been in this situation before , twice.

99% of the time you have to have a comparable or stronger in simulation for you to pass. It does not matter if you have stronger in all other categories, but if you have a weaker in simulations 99% of the time they will keep you right under 75……

Well you figure for the MCQ you were stronger overall, but had a comparable and a weaker in there. So you did pretty good on those, but not 100%.

As for the SIMS, no way of knowing how bad you did. If you didnt get any right, your score seems high, if you got a couple right your score is probably about right. Don't underestimate the power of the 40%!

Oh, and, get back on the horse and kick its ass next time! I did a lot of work on getting comfortable with the provided guidance, which gave me Stronger on the sims on all exams.

This is why i have always thought of this diagnostic report as a BS piece of paper. I never, never followed this crap. I started studying again from scratch.

Let me ask you this question. Do you know the basis of this report? do you know how NASBA or AICPA comes up with this report? if you ask them , will they ever be able to answer it? NO.

This report is never challengeable nor do they ever pass someone from a failing score to a passing score.

So my advice is to take this fail and dont read too much in this crap.

Thank you guys! I appreciate the feedback. I just feel like it's one thing to not study, fail and know in your heart you need to try harder. It's another to study your a$$ off, think you did enough to get you to a 75, get a 70 (not as bad as a 74, I get that – but still painful), and then see that overall in MCQs I was stronger. No way I got stronger on mcqs and totally BOMBED sims…Plus, I was able to get 2 of the sims straight from the research tab….it's just so frustrating!!

I agree with you mena – such bs!

Determined CPA – I just received “stonger” on all sections of my AUD MCQ, not even one “comparable” or “weaker”. I got “weaker” on SIMS, and still got a 73. So you are not alone. I think it is true that you have to be comparable on SIMs to pass in most cases.

    AUD - 73,91
    FAR - 79 - Thank you God!
    BEC - 73,79!!!!
    REG - 92 whatttt??!

I used Becker review + flashcards, Ninja Audio, Ninja MCQ supplement on BEC and REG.

    Done! Praise God!

OMG lauren, i am so sorry!! that is so awful! Not that misery loves company, but i feel better knowing that other people know how annoying this is. What do we do now? We obviously know the material. I guess study a million sims before next exam day and pray for a reasonable MC section…

Ha, thanks! Yes it is pretty brutal, but it is my first test so I am tying to stay positive. I am confident that I prepared myself well for the MCQ's, but I am going to try to focus a lot more on the simulations for the next one. I am just trying to figure out how to do that. I feel like they are a toss up. I am just going to try to learn how to use the AL better, because although I couldnt have used it for a few of my SIMS, I think it will help some (hopefully). SIMS are not my friend! I know what you are going through!

I was allocating more and more time to simulations as compared to MCQ's. I realized pretty soon, that simulation will break me, cause they are 40%.

I breezed through the MCQ's and took the gamble, i always had comparable in MCQ's and may be 1 or 2 weaker or stronger….
