Hi so I just received my AUD grade back and I felt really good coming out of the exam to learn this morning I got a 59. My firm let me leave early for Becker class, days off etc… I am pretty sure that this will look bad on my yearly review, and possibly get me cuz they want me to pass. How do I tell them I failed? My orginal thought was to say I got a 72 or 73 which to means I knew the material just not as well as I thought.

    Any opinions on this?

BEC: 75 lost credit, could not pass far 🙁
AUD: 76 lost credit could not pass far 🙁
FAR: 74, FML. Next exam 06/14/23
REG: 75 lost credit could not pass far 🙁

One of the few acceptable questions to lie about is when asked by a supervisor “Are you interviewing elsewhere?”.

You shouldn't be embarrassed that you didn't pass. More than half of people who sit for each exam don't pass. I wouldn't be less embarrassed for getting a 74 vs a 59. Fail is a fail, pass is a pass. Just be positive, maybe mention how you need to revisit your study method, etc.

It's a pointless lie to fudge a low failing score to a higher failing score.

I joined a small CPA firm in July and got my first exam score back last week. Everyone in the office knew I was waiting for my score so when I found out I failed I had to tell them. Everyone was very supportive and some offered up their struggles with the exam as well. I would just be honest and tell them what you're going to do differently in order to pass next time.
