Hey guys,
Just wanted to vent a tad. Took AUD this morning and was really well prepared for it. Did well on the practice tests, the recently released questions, and etc. This was the test I felt most prepared for to date. 4 hours later, I felt completely different…
The MCQ’s were mostly all AUD related (with a few out of left field, like you all know). The first testlet was actually harder than I expected it to be. The second testlet was more wordy (so I assume more difficult) but unfortunately, the 3rd testlet seemed the easiest. It may have been “hard” but it seemed too straightforward… I’m trying not to think about it too much… I guess we’ll see how things pan out.
As for the SIMs, I think my computer glitched somehow and switched me to a FAR exam. I had a couple of SIMs that I swear had NOTHING to do with AUD whatsoever. Having just taken FAR, I would have expected to see these SIMs in FAR. Honestly. Moreover, I had 1 SIM with 3 tabs of information and 2 SIMs with 2 tabs of info. Are you serious? Some people get 2 research SIMs and I had several SIMs with several tabs of tons of info. How is that fair? Those SIMs took me over an hour to complete in themselves and I didn’t feel good about them at all… I did my best though! Good thing I left about 1 hour and 45 mins to do my SIMs. (The AICPA should really think of some way to even out their SIM distribution… I feel jipped…)
Needless to say, I turned my exam in with about 30 seconds left feeling completely defeated. I went into the exam expecting to blow it out of the park, but instead, my mind was blown. I was really well prepared for AUD, no doubt, but I don’t think there was anything I could have done to prepare me for the truck that blindsided me today. The MCQ were harder than I expected and the SIMs were absolutely ridiculous. Nothing like I had seen in my Becker review materials. I’ve had a few SIMs on other tests that have been ridiculous, but not more than 1 or 2 per test. 4-5 of the SIMs on this test, however, were a complete crapshoot. I now have a better understanding as to why people talk about the exam being a lot of preparation and a lot of luck. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side this time. I’m just praying that my AUD GuessFest was enough to pass.
