Second shot at an exam, I failed FAR on my first attempt. Now Audit. I was feeling confident through studying but I;m starting to remember my FAR fail more, and it’s causing anxiety.

To all with audit experience, what are the most important things I need to nail down?

1) ProfessionalResponsibilities

a) Relationships- Cousin, in laws, freinds cousin, cousin of your sons inlaw…..

b) mutual funds and funds and other funds where CPA is invested

c) Ownership thresholds (CPA can own X% in which funds…)

I was going to say ethics too. While not particularly difficult, if you don't really know those rules, you could be in trouble. Then obviously the reports and the changes to the reports.

AUD has so little material, there is not chance you can fail if you put in enough hours.

@ Shanek – Your priority now is AUD. Don't think about FAR and much less about failing. Everything in AUD is important and needs attention. Specially evidence, internal controls and reporting. Make sure you know how to interpret changes in the ratios. May be a lot of people will disagree with me, and I'm not saying that it is not important, but if by any chance you run out of time, the IT material would be the less important in AUD. Still make the best effort to not skip anything. Just think that you can do it and you'll pass.

@ Govtec – AUD doesn't have a lot of material but it is very meticulous. If you don't master the material and you don't pay actual attention to what you are reading that is a recipe for disaster on exam day. Like Martin said, it has the highest failing rate for a reason.

Yes, it is meticulous but I found the topic to be very logical. I failed the other sections multiple times but passed AUD with my highest score on the first attempt and I'm in private industry with no public experience. It may have helped me that I passed BEC and FAR prior to taking AUD because I know IT and JE plays a major part in the test. I'm surprised it has the highest fail rate.

You have to know the audit reports backward and forward. That means know how they read and what is/is not in them. You should also know which standards apply to which type of work in audit. What I hate about audit is how the SIMS ask things that are a judgement call by the auditor in a real life situation. The correct answer is not only one so they ask you for the best and correct answer. If you have never worked as an auditor (like me) this could be a huge problem.
