Hi AUDGurus
I am curious to know if AUD section is considered more of conceptual or one need to memorize Audit questions answers ? Should I remember lot of acronyms and questions or focus on understanding the concepts from ( Roger’s or Becker’s ) ? Any other ideas ,tips or suggestion for AUD are welcome.Please share your experience and suggestions.

It feels more conceptual to me with a little memorization. The things I would memorize have to do with the reports and the engagement letter, but it mostly seems like if you understand what the purpose of each service is, then you can infer what you need to do.

I feel like it is more conceptual. Of course there are topics that you must memorize, ie sampling, transaction cycles, etc. but I feel like having an overall understanding of the audit process and truly understanding the steps really helps since the topics build off each other. I feel like memorizing the basic auditors report or knowing it really well helped me. That is sort of like your cheat sheet of the entire audit process and aids in your understanding of the sequential procedure of an audit.

You have to memorize stuff like audit reports and when to use paragraphs etc. Concepts are the assertions and transaction cycles / internal control stuff. Sims are what gets people, very luck based. Hardest part to pass for sure, good luck!

I think its more conceptual than memorization. There is simply a process to every attestation engagement and I definitely feel like having real life audit experience would help tremendously on this exam. If you understand everything from planning to reporting, audit isn't really that tough. The toughest parts of studying for the exam has been the underlying concepts of transaction cycles, internal controls and sampling. These are just my thoughts.

memorization without a doubt, it may seem conceptual & easy, but it can easily trick you into thinking you passed without a shadow of a doubt after walking out of the exam, but it's the silent killer imo. Took me 3 tries to pass her, the tricks & mental gymnastics are something else with Audit.

Both – no doubt. First, you need to really know the conceptual aspects of various audits, attestations, etc, so you understand where exactly you are in the process (engagement acceptance, planning, fieldwork, review, etc). Then, Audit becomes brute memorization, but you still need to conceptually bring everything together. Just my 2 cents.
