Just took Audit. I am not sure if my second testlet got harder or the same. Since its all conceptual questions its hard to tell. And I was surprised that the prometric provided calculator was allowed. When did this new policy come into effect? But! Audit didn’t really need one. Wish it was allowable when I took the Far. I got one research question in my 4th testlet. Like many candidates said there were some questions with two answers i really had no ideas which one was correct or wrong. Tried eliminating answers with absolute terms. I noticed simulations coverd topics different from mcqs. Some of the sims had no exhibits (i was like “really?”) and 2 of sims had a lot of exhibits. Went into testing center feeling unprepared as I coould only review for one week and did only half of the entire mcqs (second time around). And had no time to do any becker mock exams. Now is the time to pray.

Good luck, you almost done! I hate AUD because of two answers, I'm quite sure that is the reason why I failed with 73. Do you have any advice for SIMs? what topics do wish you could study more?

Good luck! Those double ones kill me — I always hear the advice that you take it in the most literal sense of what one is more correct, but sometimes it's just impossible for me to tell and it's the worst.

@AndreaA – you may call me a veteran of the 73 AUD score…I am in the process of studying for my test on Friday and am finally forcing myself to read even the most boring chapters. It's been an illuminating experience, as I realize I've been totally owned by just a couple things I'm always too lazy/arrogant to read.

My experience with sims:
1. The one that's always crushed my TBS score is the AICPA code of ethics simulation. There are more ethics-based simulations than you'd expect. “No shit sherlock, of course you can't be shady” should not be all of your notes for the chapter on the code of conduct (yes, it was my first time) — know every single component of independence, no matter how specific or insignificant you think it is. I've been destroyed by simulations that cover every minutiae of independence, from ERISA to government audits to client ownership to family connections, and quite a few that combined different aspects. I failed them all assuming that chapter was all common sense stuff.
2. Know how to create an audit plan. I notice my new Roger textbook now gives WAY more guidance in the IC chapter on these questions, going all the way to give very specific step-by-step instructions on how to tackle these sims. It gives me hope that I wasn't the only one who's been owned time and time again!
3. Know your SoDs in and out. Another thing that's much more emphasized in my newer textbook is SoDs for investments and derivatives, and I will agree with it in saying that that's more likely to be tested than the more straightforward/commonly known ones like revenue or purchases.

Hey,

Sounds like you haven't seen many questions related to FAR on the Sims in the test centre. I have failed twice already by two points. I got “weak” on MCQs on my first attempt but got “weak” on SIMs on my second attempt so I do not know how to prepare the sims. I have a plan to take the exam next week and have already solved all the MCQs on Ninja and will attack SIMs + AICPA released questions with my notes.

I have a full time job with 20 months old baby so can't have much time to study only. Any advice for me to study particular subject more? I got “weak” on III. Performing further procedures and obtaining evidence area and I believe because I did bad on sims related to this questions.

Did you come across any sims that dealt with Excel? Wiley suggested to have a basic level of knowledge on IF statements, Vlookup , and Pivot tables.
