Took AUD this morning. I feel good for the most only the last SIMS is my weak one because I did not spend time on that topic. I have 2 research and 2 DRS. The second DRS is a big one that it could be considered as 2 DRS combined into one. Must do the AICPA sample exam!!! DO IT!!!
I use Gleim. Gleim's MCQs and SIMs are good for practice. But I don't like its outlines. I read Becker book a few days again. It gave me much better explanation for some topics and saved my life.
December 6, 2017 at 9:11 pm #1675229AnonymousInactiveI took AUD today also, the MCQs were pretty manageable but OMG! the SIMs killed me. The document review simulations were brutal, I had no idea what they were asking. I plan on redoing this in January but I need to practice a whole lot of SIMs/DRS.
Any suggestions on good material to practice SIMs? I'm using Ninja but I think its better for MCQs.
December 6, 2017 at 9:37 pm #1675235AnonymousInactiveDecember 7, 2017 at 11:04 am #1675355BourneParticipantJust took AUD this morning and wasn't really what I expected. Walked out feeling the complete opposite of FAR.
Got the MCQ's done in an hour (second testlet was a little harder). Got the first two sims done in about 25 mins and then finished the exam with a little over an hour left. Some of the MCQ's were tough/tricky but for the most part I feel that I did okay on them.
The SIMS weren't as bad as I've been hearing. Yes, I got like 3 or 4 sims with multiple documents but I had 3 hours to complete the sims so it wasn't as bad as it could've been. The biggest thing that can work in your favor for sims is time management and I found that out today. The sims were difficult, but the time I had leftover was a huge benefit.
I'm thinking that I'll pass, but I do not want to be overly confident. We'll see in 12 days. Good luck to everyone testing the rest of the quarter!
December 7, 2017 at 11:44 am #1675367Operation_CPAParticipantTook AUD this morning and honestly I feel pretty good about it. I flew through the first teslet and the second testlet was noticeably wordier and more in depth. I suspect that is a good sign, but one can never be too sure with these exams.
SIMS were as I've said before, business as usual. A lot of professional judgement involved. Weirdly, I got a bunch of the same TBS the last time I took AUD (I failed w/ a 71). Just looking forward to having my score back relatively quickly this time instead of waiting a brutal 3 months!
Best of luck to all studying.
December 7, 2017 at 5:29 pm #1675520ReckedParticipantTake this all with a grain of salt as this was absolutely a hail mary attempt for me.
15 years in tax. I do zero comp, review or audit. The closest I come to any of that is financial statement prep/write up using quickbooks.
My tax experience has gotten me pretty good at analyzing financials, but my goal is always to report lower income/less tax liability.I am feeling somewhat confident on this exam. It was a very different experience from FAR. I feel slightly less mule kicked in the head after I was done. Perhaps its because I got more than 3 hours sleep the night before?
The MCQ's felt fair overall. I am conflicted as to whether the MCQ's got any harder. I feel like the 2nd testlet was more of an eliminate 2, vs the first testlet I was able to eliminate 3. I did not notice the questions being too much longer or wordier, but perhaps the answers were wordier.
I tried to pound through the MCQ's as fast as possible I'm not a marker and reviewer. I also tried to recognize that this is something I do or do not know, If you don't know it, eliminate what you can and pick the best remaining option and move on.I think I was through MCQ's in about 1:10, so 2:50 on the clock.
3rd testlet had some tricky SIMS. I was able to use the AL a bit, so I feel somewhat confident. I wish I had more time for this to read more of the examples in the book. Clock was getting down to 2 hours and I did not want to waste time and get burned like in FAR so I made the best attempt and moved on with 1:59.
15 minute break. Clif bar and gatorade. Always take the break so you can move around a bit, or just breathe.
4th testlet was ok. Used AL where I thought it would help, made sure to be done by the 1 hour mark.
Last testlet really wasn't too bad. I could have been done at 0:30 left, but I just kept reviewing things are trying to use AL to confirm any questions I had. Unfortunately the 5th testlet provided the LEAST amount of areas that AL could have helped me. I probably could have used more time on #3 or #4, but it is what it is. FAR taught me a huge lesson on time management.Hoping for a pass, but at least it was a good learning experience. 3 weeks, 85ish hours, Roger videos, 1000 Roger MCQs 75.2%. AICPA sample test multiple times. Pretty much 0 Research or SIMs practice, but I did select them all in a testlet in Roger just to flip through them to see what they might be like. Fairly confident that SIMs practice is mostly a waste of time but we'll see.
Good luck all. Keep on keeping on.
Do whatever you have to to get sleep before the exam. This was an afternoon exam for me as that was the seat that opened up 3 weeks ago. All 3 EA exams and FAR were in the morning at a test center about 1 hour from home, and I get there an hour before test time. (They took me right in as soon as I walked in so I beat the rush.)December 7, 2017 at 5:40 pm #1675525ReckedParticipantShout out to NASBA Candidate Care.
Original request for pencil and paper sent 11/21, follow up sent Monday 12/4.
Never heard back but asked Prometric when they called to remind/confirm appointment. They did not have the request.
Called NASBA Candidate Care immediately. Was told multi requests were sent both on 11/21, as well as multiple emails this week. The woman was making every effort to get through to Prometric and was going to send another notice marked as Urgent.
Walked into Prometric and asked if they received the request. I was an hour early because they told me they would have to call and confirm if it had not come through to them. It was delivered via telephone call this morning, so I was all set.I forgot to try the markers and laminated paper before I left again today, maybe next time. But for now I'll stick with my pencil and paper.
I have chicken scratch hand writing, and write extremely small. Always use a fine tip pen at work. Marker just isn't going to cut it for me I'm afraid.December 7, 2017 at 5:46 pm #1675528BourneParticipantThe amount of study time you put in and to feel this well about it is impressive. Just like FAR, I completely forgot to use the AL for other sims besides the research. Hopefully I knew the material as well I think I did. The countdown to score release begins!
December 7, 2017 at 5:57 pm #1675532Right Brained AccountantParticipantAlso took AUD this morning and mirrored the scenario @Operation_CPA had. Last attempt at AUD I walked out with a confident feeling and a 69 result, but this time I truly felt I had a deeper and far better grasp on the material. Ah well, we shall see! Best of luck, y'all and finish this year strong!

On two mock Becker exams and one Wiley I scored 78% on MCQ each time. I was trending 85%-90% at the end for 20 question test bank sessions (both Becker and Wiley) for this past week and didn't feel like the exam was too far off of from my comfort level, for either MCQ or Simulations.
December 8, 2017 at 12:57 am #1675657fruity snacksParticipantI know there has been a trend where the exam should get more difficult (at least the mcq) the better you do, but does this refer to the simulations as well? Starting to get worried since I felt the mcq was fair and the second testlet was not more lengthy or detailed. The simulations I thought were very fair as well, only had 1 DRS opposed to some that have gotten 2 in this thread. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
December 8, 2017 at 10:08 am #1675736ReckedParticipantEverything I have read says the SIMs are the SIMs, there is not adjustment to difficulty based on your progress.
