What is the best method to use when using the AL to answer SIM question in exams NOT the research ones as it seems to be very tedious

Lots of practice. The more you practice the better you are at using the search within options. If you are concerned about how the AL will look like compared to your study materials, check out the AICPA test simulation. It is JUST like the exam. But for one example if the sim is on control risk, maybe search for engagement planning or risk assessment. That should put you in the right direction. Good luck!

Using the AL to answer Sims is perfectly allowable and greatly enhances your chance to bump your score.

Although sometimes (as for my experience during my AUD exam) the use of specific words in the search field does not seem to display the correct ranking of search results that's why you have to be at least familiar which topic the Sim question covers and their use the “search within” functionality to narrow down within the topic. It really worked for me. I've even identified and located portion of the Sims wordings word-for-word in some cases.

It's such a great tool during the exam.

Also, allot enough time for the Sims. It comprises 40% of the score, on which the material is given, you just need to find it.
