Same question showed up on both 1st and 3rd testlet

So in short when I took my exam on Tuesday, 2 of the same questions with exact wording and answers showed up. One showed up on first testlet, second one showed up on 3rd. I was a little shocked seeing this, but also made me wonder even more if I completely just bombed this exam because this question would be considered a medium difficulty type of question since it was on the first testlet. I knew the answer and remember the question exactly, because I actually thought to myself wow this the one question that had the most obvious answer through out the whole test. Anyone ever encounter 2 exact same questions with exact same answers on the exam?

I've had the exact same question appear on two different testlets in REG. I've also had derivative forms of the same question appear on both FAR and BEC. It does not mean you bombed the exam. Even though questions are slotted into medium or difficult exams, I recall reading once that the AICPA said that questions within a difficulty level (medium or hard) will not all have the same difficulty. if that makes sense. There will be harder and easier questions in each testlet. So that question could have been considered a “harder” question on a medium testlet and an “easier” question on a hard testlet.

I have a theory that if the same question shows up twice then it's probably a pretest. It has only happened to me during AUD but I was 90% sure I got the question wrong both times and still managed to score a 99?

    Just a theory!

    AUD - 99 (5/2013)
    BEC - 93 (5/2013)
    FAR - 97 (7/2013)
    REG - 94 (8/2013)

    Wow, Awesome score txcpa13 …

Ya, I thought i screwed up real bad because i had a couple of repeats in AUD like you did, but eventually got a 94.

    Good luck 🙂

@txcpa13 Wow looking at your scores you are on your way to the elijah watson sells award! A 93 in REG will get you that award! That is awesome. I'm sure you will get over a 93 without any problem though looking at all your scores, so here's an early congrats to you 🙂

Yup. I had the same question in the third testlet on Question #1 and #3, I was flipping back and forth between questions like what in the heck is going on!?

Thanks guys! I worked really hard but I still walked out of each exam thinking I didn't do very well…anxiously waiting score release!

    AUD - 99 (5/2013)
    BEC - 93 (5/2013)
    FAR - 97 (7/2013)
    REG - 94 (8/2013)

@txcpa13 Have faith in yourself. I remember walking out of REG feeling the way you did. But when I saw the word “PASS” I went crazy and got hammered that night because I thought I failed horribly. The consensus I am gathering is if you feel you did great, you didn't, but if you feel you did horrible, you actually did great lol. This exam plays way too much mind tricks…

They ask you same questions on purpose to check if you just got it right by luck or if you really knew it.

I used Becker only because my firm pays for it – and I supplemented Wiley Test Bank for FAR and REG for unseen question practice. I wasn't an accounting undergrad but did a masters program – which I think helped because I def. had the fear of failing weigh heavily on my conscience!

    AUD - 99 (5/2013)
    BEC - 93 (5/2013)
    FAR - 97 (7/2013)
    REG - 94 (8/2013)
