Get on the ACFE website. They have a great career section that lists lots of ideas. I work for myself as a Fraud Investigator. There are many, many specialties you can get into. It's a great field!

I think the best way to find out if a certification is worthwhile is to type it into indeed.com.

As of today there are 1,300 jobs nationwide where the hiring manager is looking for someone with a CFE.

There are 21,000 jobs nationwide that appear when you type in fraud.

I plan on taking the CFE as soon as I have an extra thousand dollars (exam fees and online test prep). The work of a CFE seems like it would be more interesting than traditional staff accounting, taxation, audit, ect.

You might want to consider anti-money laundering. The CAMS certification (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) is also fairly easy to obtain if you have earned your CPA.
