What else after CPA and MBA

Currently I am obtaining both my MBA and CPA. I will also scoop up the CGMA since it will be a free certification. After that, will there be any more value added in terms of obtaining a job and putting it into my resume?

What other certifications or degrees should I pursue which would add value? I currently only have financial reporting experience.

Haha, after CPA & MBA is ….life.

Yeah, like working, having family, traveling, chilling with friends, shopping, chilling more and so on!!!!

Don't get me wrong, but you will have plenty to learn at the job place b/c no exam or academic studies fully prepare for all nuances encountered in the workplace. There is always something to learn and progress professionally.

I am all for learning, but no matter how many degrees we have, if we are working for someone else, we are making somebody else rich. Just a thought……

Thanks for the advice guys… I was thinking like possibly continuing on to get other certifications ie, CFA, CMA CFE, CFP, EA, maybe CIA but if it's not going to translate to me more easily finding a job then there's no reason to do it. I was thinking CFP and EA for if I want to open up my own practice some day but that can wait for if that time ever does come.

Relating to why the MBA accounting classes are easy, it's basically just a repeat of undergrad courses and I do like accounting, classes are all exactly the same except for one.

It's my understanding that EA is below CPA so not sure how having it would benefit you?

I was considering CMA. They accept almost any experience in accounting/finance but I'd have to pay another $2K for exams and study materials and later for membership fees and CPE credits. So, not worth it.

Just maintaining the CPA license will be expensive enough.

No other certifications will add value to a CPA / MBA combo… I mean unless you want a job that requires a specific cert like CIA or CFP, otherwise you should focus on networking and getting a good job.

I agree with everyone. Get a job. If you want to be spend extra time bettering yourself find areas where your weak at your job and work on strengthening those your first year.

Keep in mind having to many certifications my might make you look to over qualified for some entry level opportunities, while those same certifications alone will not help you qualify for more senior accounting positions. Its not like another certification will allow you to make more money entry level after the cpa.

I would get a job and after 2 years of experience maybe consider a CMA.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
