    Hello everyone,

After the CPA exam, I don’t think I can ever sit for any exams again. However, my MAcc’s advisor recommends me to take the CIA exam. After some researches, I have decided to study for exam.

Since I am new to the CIA exam, I want to ask which material I should use for CIA exam? Also, how long does it take you to complete for the CIA exam?

    Thanks a lot!

Go for Gleim CIA review. It is cheaper than IIA CIA Review. Idk about how many hours or time wise it could take to complete per part. There are 3 parts in total. You have about 4 years to pass 3 parts.

"Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up, with goals so strong that obstacles, failure, and loss act only as motivation"

    AUD: 68, 62, 77✔ (expires 10/31/16)
    FAR: 53, 48, XX (retake 6/16)
    REG:
    BEC: 53

I am currently taking the CIA Exam. I have passed Part 1 and 2 on the first try. I will take Part 3 for the first time in August. I am using Gleim which I would recommend. In order to study, I took about one month for Part 1, one month for Part 2 and two months for Part 3. Part 3 is double the amount of material. Overall, it's really not a difficult test, especially compared to the CPA (which I have passed already) but work experience makes this exam a lot easier.

    FAR: 72, 68, 73, 78 (passed)
    REG: 61, 70, 73, 63, 78 (passed)
    AUD: 65, 84 (passed)
    BEC: 89 (passed)

Yes, I worked full time in internal audit while studying for the CIA exam. I took the CIA exam because my manager asked me to and it was free haha I am pretty sure I want to stay in internal audit for my career so I think this will show that I am serious about it and give me more credibility. I am actually taking Part 3 today.

I finished the CIA exam about 2 months ago. I took my first exam at the end of February and my last exam in the middle of May. Passed all 3 on the first try. The 3rd part is by far the hardest. Probably comparable to one of the easier sections of the CPA – it is a lot like BEC. You will do fine.

    REG - 81
    BEC - 83
    AUD - 86
    FAR - 78 (Done!)

Do you take the CIA exam in a Prometric facility? Is the CIA exam in a similar format in comparison to the CPA, i.e., MCQs and simulations type of questions?

The exam is all MCQ and is not adaptive.

    REG - 81
    BEC - 83
    AUD - 86
    FAR - 78 (Done!)

    @cpame, Yeah I passed.

Uh tips for passing are kind of the same as the CPA.

    1. Read the chapters

    2. Do lots of multiple choice test

    3. Take a practice exam

    4. Use flash cards to memorize formulas, definitions etc.

Pay attention to what percentage each subject will be tested at. For example, if one chapter represents 40% of the exam, focus on that. Gleim doesn't really know what I'll be tested on so they try and give you a wide range of subjects. I didn't worry tooo much about it if it was only going to be maybe 5% of the exam. I just tried to understand the basics.
