A friend of mine is a therapist. She doesn’t use any program to bill clients and keep track of everything. She asked me for help. Any suggestions of a good and simple program to use? thanks

QuickBooks has a bit of a learning curve but once you are used to it, it can be a good program for a small business like that. There are firms that have certified QB people that can get her setup and going and can help her manage it if she wants. She can print invoices from there too.

I would look into Sage 50 which used to be Peachtree. Sage is easy to use and you can get it for the size company that you have. I work at a CPA firm and this is what they use to do their clients financials.

I would say it depends on her volume.

If you want to help her out you could create excel ledgers. Just record dates of sales/amounts and transfer them to a a/r ledger if she doesn't immediately collect.

Then have another ledger for expenditures. Have them linked to another sheet for a P&L if that what she is looking for.

Due to her business, I'd doubt she would have a/p.

She could just have a word document to create invoices.

QB is difficult to set up and difficult to maintain. For a 1 person entity(likely a sole-prop), I wouldn't invest the time or money.
