Does it make sense for someone in the accounting world to become a notary? I would think there could be some benefits in some cases. Also, has anyone gone through the process (exam, application) and would like to sure their thoughts? It seems like each state has their own requirements.

There is no reason to become a notary. Most of our secretaries are notarys. It would be very annoying to be billing good rates for accounting and tax only to be pulled off to do a notary task.

There is no exam to be a notary, you just give the state money, buy insurance or some kind of bond (don't remember) and you get your certificate. There isn't any reason to become a notary. I am but that's just because my employer made me do it (employer paid) as a benefit to employees.

    AUD - 72, 81
    FAR - 71, 78
    REG - 60, 78
    BEC - 60, 71, 71

IF I FALL, I WILL GET BACK UP. IF I AM BEATEN, I WILL RETURN.

There definitely is a notary exam in ny. However it is designed to be easy for the average person. Like the real estate agent exam.
