I used this book when I took the EA exams 2 years ago…I passed all 3 no problem but found the book could have used a bit more detail than what was provided.

If you are studying for EA, my greatest recommendation (I emphasize this greatly) is doing the old EA exams on the IRS website and work through all the problems (you might need to change the annual numbers that change to the current tax year). In any case, the old IRS exams are a tremendous resource when studying for the EA.

I used Fast Forward Academy. I think at the time I registered I paid around $300 for books and online testbank for the three sections. It took me about 2 months to study and pass all sections of the EA exam, so it isn”t very difficult. Also, in case you haven't taken REG, it helped me tremendously with REG material, as you will basically be halfway done and will only need to cover Business Law. It is a worthwhile credential to have while pursuing the CPA. Cheers and good luck!

I am taking online class called Advanced Tax. I am taking this to fulfill additional educational requirements in my state (CA), but the class is for EA prep. course. So I have to purchase Gleim EA review just for the class. Since I am investing money and time on EA course, I am thinking about options to be EA. But is EA designation worth if you have CPA license? Also, my company won't pay for any fees related to EA, but they will pay for annual licensing fee for the CPA. Any thought?

If your a CPA then getting EA is pointless. As a licensed CPA you can sign tax returns and represent clients before various tax authorities, this is basically what an EA does. So unless its required by your job, its not worth getting.

THE 300 CLUB WILL DO JUST FINE!

    I was wondering that too.

EA almost sounds like it's a more official certification than say being an HR Block tax preparer? Curious to know the reason behind being an EA if you already have your CPA.

If you've passed REG, could you pass the EA test on the first go or is there more/deeper studying that needs to be done?
