I was just curious as to some of the A71 community’s thoughts on the CVA certification.. I work for a pretty small regional firm, and currently only one partner and one senior have this cert. so I think I could add some value as our valuation business is growing. Anyone have thoughts on the process, if it’s worthwhile, etc. on the CVA?

    CFA > ASA > ABV = CVA

I personally am going for the ABV. MAYBE the CFA down the road. That one's a pretty big maybe.

I like the fact that the ABV is issued by the AICPA.

The CFA and ASA are no walk in the park. The ABV and CVA aren't too hard to get from what I hear.

I too am thinking about obtaining the CVA or ABV once I'm done with the CPA. I think performing business valuations could be a nice addition to a smaller firms practice. Tax and auditing are our two main ones obviously, but we're looking to really spearhead a b-val team. We've done a few b-val reports in the past couple years, but we currently only have one CVA and that's one of our Partners. So there would be a void to fill once he's done
