Hi All,

Need some help/guidance on how to approach the CLEP exams. I need to take 2 them to get to 150 credits ASAP! I’m thinking of taking American History I and Human Growth and Development. Want to see if anyone has studied for CLEP exams and what the best way to study is? How long did you study? What material? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Make sure your state allows that as credit. My state only allows the credit if it is part of your curriculum and shows up on your transcript. I took macro economics, and it was super easy. American govern is also not too bad. It is really easy to pass them.

I took college math worth 6 credits for my school! It was really simple only took like three days to study the free material online, most of it was a refresher from high school and middle school honestly. I definitely reccomend this option as opposed to classes.

Hi @Pateljh1, I have taken several CLEP exams. They are an awesome way to work towards 150. As others have said make sure you have a college/university that will accept the hours. Below I would rate the ones I have taken from easiest to hardest:
1. College Algebra
2. Microeconomics
3. Macroeconomics
4. College Composition (Credit for English I and II from this)
5. Pre-Calculus
6 Calculus

Trying to think if there were any others, but these are the ones I know off of the top of my head. For review on all of them, I just purchased the cheapest RIA book I could find on eBay/Amazon, etc. I think they were all under $10, and some were probably 10 years old or better. I had a little background in most of these, but I would watch youtube for the shortcomings during review. I passed all of them very easily though (think the lowest I made on any was a 76/80, so I definitely over prepared. I don't actually have experience with the two you mentioned, but I don't see any reason they wouldn't work. You might check out free-clep-prep.com. I used it to learn a lot about the exams, and I think that's all I used to review for Algebra.

Which schools are you guys using to transfer the credits over to?

@Jnwilliams328 I transferred them into my community college, after I graduated from my university.

@Jnwilliams328, I took these while I was still completing my undergrad at Texas Tech. Some of them were to fill core requirements, and the others were to fill free electives. So for me, it knocked out two problems at once. If you have already graduated, you probably will have to enroll in a CC that allows you to transfer them in. Key is keeping in touch with your state board to make sure you don't duplicate classes.
