I have the experience to get the designation right now, just need to pay the $150. Does this seem like a worthwhile venture, especially with an exam being needed in the near future, or is it another money grab by the AICPA?

Anyone have this designation or thought about getting it?

Mr mini, who designated you the police of designations. Because quite frankly it's annoying. No one elected you judge and jury and you should not be making such blanketed statements about people with the designation. How do you know that every single person with a CGMA isn't using all their cpe time to study up on global accounting?

It will be interesting…not sure why they are waiting until 2015 to test for it.

I will be turning my sights to CMA this fall (fingers crossed).

@last – “Listen, if he has a CGMA, he obviously has the expertise to have it. OTHERWISE HE WOULDN”T HAVE IT.”

This statement is not even close to being accurate. This is precisely the point I am trying to make. Do you even know what the requirements are for the CGMA designation? Did you know that three years of FINANCIAL accounting experience and a CPA license is ALL YOU NEED for the CGMA designation? Did you know that I qualify for the designation and the AICPA would issue me the designation tomorrow if I paid the $100? I have never worked in a managerial accounting position and have had very, very little exposure to managerial accounting issues. However, since I have experience in financial accounting, the AICPA seems to want to dub me a Chartered Global Management Accountant. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

I think we are forgetting here that the AICPA does not directly enforce ethics for the CPA license. It is up to the individual states to revoke a license from the holder if they are discrediting the profession. I agree with Mini on this one. Also keep in mind, what would having a CPA mean if all you had to do was to pay a fee to achieve it? I for one would not want a designation for something that I have never learned about or had experience in.

How could this be valuable in the future? I remember years back when everyone was collecting beanie babies because “they might be worth something someday.”

    REG- 81
    BEC- 72,76
    AUD- 67,88
    FAR- 78

    Done!
