CFE- Testing strategy?

Just was curious as to how people who’ve passed the CFE Exam went about the actual test. Did you study for one section at a time and take each test as you finished the study material for that section, or did you study everything at once and then do all 4 test sections at once?

I’m just about done with the review questions for the Investigation section & I’m trying to determine whether or not I should take the test or move on and keep studying another section.

I studied for 2 sections, took the test for each, and then did a repeat of the final 2. I wasn't sure whether or not I'd remember everything from all 4, so I figured why not, if I have 30 days to complete all the sections and submit. I felt it was an easy exam, and most of the questions were verbatim what you'll find in the study software. I never bothered to read that exhaustive manual, since it was ridiculously thick.

Yeah, there's no way I'm reading the manual- that would take FOREVER and I would probably retain nothing. I have the study software which seems to do a decent job of preparation. Taking two sections at a time isn't a bad idea. I hadnt even thought of doing it that way.

You have 30 days from the point you request the exam key, so you do have some flexibility. Doing it that way worked for me.

I went through all sections of the prep course first and then when I was ready to test, I took the practice exams until I was scoring like 95 – 100% on each (I'm an overachiever and probably wasted some time there) and I tested right after taking the practice exam for that section. Then I repeated that for all 4. I only went back to the manual when I didn't understand a topic. You can totally pass if you just memorize the MCQs in the prep course.

    Thanks for the tip @solescpa.

I went ahead and requested the exam key & the rules must have changed because you have 90 days to activate the exam key from the day you get it, and once it's been activated, you have 30 days to take all 4 sections.
