Hi I just received my CFE exam key and I’m going to start sitting for the exam this weekend. Can anyone elaborate on what happens after I enter in my exam key? Thanks!

I'm going from memory here, but when you enter your exam key, the 30 day window to sit for the 4 sections starts.

You'll be able to take each individual section one at a time, or you can take them all back-to-back-to-back-to-back (which is what I did), so long as you take all 4 sections and hit submit in that 30 day window.

You'll have 70 seconds for each question. There's a clock on the screen that is always running if you're on a question and does not reset if you come back to a question. Example: You take 20 seconds to read a question, can't choose an answer and decide to come back to it. You'll have 50 seconds left on that question when you come back to it.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I plan on taking each section separately. My goal is to review for a week and then take the exam on the weekend, utilizing every weekend in December. So I only hit submit once I complete all 4 sections? What do I hit when I finish each individual section (I know silly question). I figured the exam will be set up like the practice exams. Also, I only submit one affidavit for all 4 exams or do I submit one after each exam?

Good luck! If you can pass the CPA exam you will pass the CFE. It sounds like you have a good study plan in place!

Correct. I'm not even sure you can hit submit before taking all 4 sections.

What do I hit when I finish each individual section (I know silly question).

I think there's an “end individual section” sort of button within the exam section. In any event, after all your questions' timers have run out, you'll be kicked out anyway.

I figured the exam will be set up like the practice exams.

It's almost exactly the same as the practice exam in terms of setup. Just a lot more questions.

Also, I only submit one affidavit for all 4 exams or do I submit one after each exam?

You'll take all 4 exams, then submit 1 affidavit that will cover all of them. If you need to do a retake of any of the sections, you'll need to submit a second affidavit that will cover the second round.

Do as many of the questions you can for practice. That will help tremendously. I didn't feel the CFE was hard at all.

Just curious, what are the requirements for the CFE? Spending all my time studying for the CPA, but I remember one of my professors always saying to get the CFE as well.
