Who needs the wife and/or kids right?

I know it’s a conceited thing to do, but when else am I gonna finish something this hard? Usually I do my cards the weekend after Thanksgiving, but the darn state of CA is taking forever. Come on CA!

You said it. It is a conceited thing to do.

I am happy for your success. I am.

People in your life sacrificed to help you along, I'm sure. Whether it was to give you space or money or time or understanding.

Also, Christmas cards in general are an excuse to tell other people how wonderful your life is.

Instead of the cards, maybe send out a series of handwritten thank you notes.

And, yes, I am happy for your success and hard work. My success will payoff soon too.

But your recipients surely won't take it that way, as you presumably intended.

Try THANKING people in your life who have helped you along the way. eg buy a round of drinks, have people over for dinner.

Also, Christmas cards, often like Facebook photos are just opportunities for a humble brag.

I am happy for your success so please don't take this the wrong way. Really, congrats.

Nobody will take it like how you presumably meant it.

Try a series of handwritten thank you notes.

At least do a family pic with you holding the framed certificate. Make sure to get a green bankers visit and an adding machine too. Actually there are a bunch of ways you could make it unique and funny!

Have you ever tried writing a Christmas letter instead of sending Christmas cards? It allows you the chance to brag and/or share news, without making it quite as conceited. My family always did them when I was growing up, and we'd write a paragraph or so on each person in the family (with 7 siblings, 1 paragraph each = full letter!). That way people who don't see you often can know what's going on. But…in that setting, listing your CPA could be logical; “Track55 has spent most of the year studying, and as of Dec xx, is licensed as a CPA. In the rare moments away from studying, Track55 has continued to enjoy air hockey…” or whatever. One of the families we received Christmas letters from had fewer kids, so more space to write, and would do a picture of each person with their paragraph – usually something like a vacation picture from one of the kids, picture at a hobby-competition for another, etc. Doing that, you could have yours be a picture of you with your certificate, and it wouldn't see as out of place.

I don't do Christmas cards myself…don't feel like I have enough to tell (without kids) to write a letter, and always thought just the cards was boring.

Ok the Ayes have it. It would be a –ick thing to do to use the certificate as a card. Im going with the “photo in the park on a bright shiny day”. 33 cents and free shipping at Walmart!

Yeah I know no one sends them; I usually just get them from charities or other people I sent to first. But Im old – what can u do?
