Just a thought. I think it would be nice to have under belt especially as I am starting my tax/accounting business on the side. Anybody have any experience or advice on the credential……it it helpful? beneficial? respected? recognized?

Considering I had to look it up, I don't know how well known it is, if it is applicable to your job goals, it can't really hurt, but I don't know how necessary it is unless you are going to be a financial advisor.

I'm about to start prepping for the CFP. I've talked to a couple people and they all said CFP is the way to go. Basically like Thrawn said, no one knows wtf a PFS is, and if you pass the CFP you are actually given the PFS also if you just apply for it.

Hi , What is your motivation behind doing CFP after CPA? I am actually in reverse situation. Currently hold my CFP starting my CPA.

@Anabelle Aside from having an interest in financial advising, which I'd like to get into one day, I want to tighten up my tax knowledge on the individual and estate side. I have my masters in tax as well as my cpa, so aside from law school which I'm not doing, this is the last step for me I believe. What's your motivation for getting the CPA?

All of this for 3 Letters – You're working towards becoming a CPA so why would you want to become a Professional Floortile Salesman. It just doesn't make sense.

Skynet, Not quite sure what you you mean by that one. Are you referring to CFP? If you consider earning in $150k plus as as a well respected Advisor a salesman job than by all means. Who doesnt want to be one? We all are one ANYWAYS. Whats the difference if its self practicing CPA, Lawyer, or doctors sitting in their own clinics, end of the day its all about selling their skills efficiently. jhd07 I am doing great as a CFP professional however hoping to give myself an edge with expertise in small business advice as well as taxation matter. Its all about reaching higher, not out of any frustration with my current career.
